Well ive done most of these calculation while in various guilds to help people out
and my self. and i thought i would share this info for those who need it. and for those that dont know it.

1. Upgrading flying mounts.

Tip. its cheaper to buy the 5gold mount and buy the windwidgets to upgrade it then it would be to get the 30gold mount and upgrade it.

Why?
the 5Gold Flying mounts start off at a speed of 1.00/3.00
every upgrade increases it by .50
so to max it you would need to go through all 4 upgrades

1st upgrade 1.50/3.50 - 20 widgets
2nd upgrade 2.00/4.00 - 60 widgets
3rd upgrade 2.50/4.50 - 80 widgets
4th upgrade 3.00/5.00 - 80 widgets

windwidgets are 10 silver ea. or 90silver for a 10 pack.
so given this. information the cost of upgrades would be
1st upgrade - 1 gold 80 silver
2nd upgrade - 5 gold 40 silver
3rd upgrade - 7 gold 20sliver
4th upgrade(Final) - 7 gold 20 silver
-total upgrade cost is 21.60 gold- + the cost of the mount = 26.60 gold

But what if i dont like the 5 gold mount? what if i want to buy the other cooler looking mounts?

10gold flying mount
start speed. 1.50/3.50
1st upgrade 2.00/4.00 - 60 widgets - 5 gold 40 silver
2nd upgrade 2.50/4.50 - 80 widgets -7gold 20 silver
3rd upgrade (final) 3.00/5.00 - 80 widgets - 7gold 20 silver
cost of upgrade - 19gold 80silver + mount =29 gold 80 silver

15 gold flying mount. has the same speed and upgrade cost as the 10 gold mount
so. upgrade cost is 19 gold 80 silver+mount is 34 gold 80 silver

20 gold mount
start speed- 2.00/4.00
1st upgrade- 2.50/4.50 -80 widgets -7 gold 20 silver
2nd upgrade(final) 3.00/5.00 - 80 widgets -7gold 20 silver
total upgrade cost is 14 gold 40 silver + mount = 34 gold 40 sliver

30 gold flying mount.
starting speed 2.50/4.50
1st upgrade (final) 3.00/5.00 -80 widgets -7 gold 20 silver
total upgrade cost 7 gold 20 siver + mount = 37 gold 20 silver

Next. Shards/Gems

For those that Ponder. is it cheaper to buy average or better shards? or make my own? or the better question. if i make how own how many shabby shards are needed

here is what i have on this matter.
3 shabby = 1 rough
3 rough = 1 = 1 blemished
3 blemished = 1 common
4common = 1 average
4 average = 1 beautiful
4 beautiful =1 flawless
5flawless = 1 immaculate
5 immaculate =1 perfect

Huh? my head hurts... whats this mean..
well to put it simple.
NOTE: price in green is the cost to manufacture from shabbys
Example. 1 rough would need 3 shabby. 1 shabby is 530 coins so 3X530 = 1590
Also there is NO fee to craft the gems. just go to the jewlcraftsmen after you have the right amount of shards. you need no skill lv either

use this to compare your prices. if you see a beautiful shard going for 300k. then you know you can make one cheaper

now compare the cost of the shabby to the cost of the shard the person is selling
ex. an average garnet shard in the shop is 60k some player will sell it for 49~60k
and the cost for 108 shabby garnets from the shop is around 58k
dont let the number of shabby fool you =P best to compare the prices.

Next on list. Dragon orb - better to buy the +5 in the cash shop? or craft one from lower orbs?

I think she forgot the whole Immaculate gems.
5 Flawless = 1 Immaculate = 8640 Shabby
5 Immaculate = 1 Perfect

Before prices were adjusted, you'd buy 5*s, then 2* stacks, then 1* stacks. With the adjustment, it doesn't matter if you buy 1, 2, or 3*s. Prices are best from them if you get 10 packs, and the cost is equal. Only difference is getting xp if you buy all 1*s, but not enough to matter. Unless you do the combining on an alt I guess.

I have been debating which kind of flying gear I should get, because cheap flying gear winds up having lower flight endurance than expensive flying gear.

And, this might matter if I ever have to be worrying about dropping chi stones when I die...

Then again, I have not found any money bearing trees, yet.

um did you pass math in school? cuz it doubt you did if you think 108 shabbies is more than 60k

I am sorry to inform you but the above statement is wrong. Its cheaper to make your own average, then buy from NPC as is stated in this most helpful thread.
