Pet leveling question

Quick question: just got my nix and was leveling it, am I correct in thinking that your pet has to be at or below the level of the monster to gain the full 15 exp per kill or am I wasting my time on mobs I can't 1 shot?

    I haven't leveled a nix, but I've seen some people doing so. Usually I run into someone leveling a Nix or Herc in an area with mobs a lot lower than their level - a level 60 with a nix by Lost City wailing on the level 5 mobs, a level 80 with a herc working on the level 25 mobs elsewhere.

    Its easier to level a pet on mobs near their level so that you don't have to heal them so much. It depends on what your pet can take, and how quickly it can take the mobs. When I was leveling my regular pets, they were about 5-10 levels below me, and I'd level them on mobs my level. That worked fairly well for me, but since you're 6x, you'll probably need to find some softer targets until your phoenix gets closer to your level. Keep them about 5-10 levels above your nix and it should work okay. If it ends up dying or you end up tanking your MP with heals, scale back.

    I'm doing most of the killing, nix going in is just incidental. These guys are 2 shots but it will be faster if I can level on 1 shot mobs instead, that's all, pet gets healed before he dies :P

    I think you are correct, you need to kill monsters that have the same or higher level than you nix (and your nix needs to have at least 500 loyalty) to get the 15 exp.

    I can verify this one. As long as the pet is @/below the level of the mob it will get the full 15exp. So if your pet is level 5, kill level 5 or higher. My suggestion is to grind on antelope pups until your pet passes their level. YOu can one-hit them pretty easily and get some decent drops at the same time ;)
