Nope you can't they can only learn the skills they already have by upgrading them and golem with this wouldn't be doing much dmg.You want them to use bash.Looking for a decent casual understanding Faction.0

Yes, you can. A pet has a maximum of 4 skill slots, to which skills which can be added, upgraded or removed as you wish. Bash is a good skill to have on the Golem so I recommend upgrading that one first (with books you buy from Mrs Zoologist/Auction House) but I did find that when killing bosses, Flesh Ream helped maintain aggro but maybe you do not need it straight away... To get it, you have to go to Mrs Zoologist (or the Auctioneer) and buy Flesh Ream, then learn Pet Skill at Mrs Zoologist.
Hope this helps!0 -
While you could add the skill you'd be better off not adding flesh ream and just upgrading the bash skill when you can for increased tankablity in the long run. The flesh ream skill doesn't hold as much agro as bash does do to lower spike damage and has a longer skill cool down than 8 seconds since it has DoT effect on the mob.
The real value of a skill like flesh ream is in pvp and generally you wouldn't use a magmite for that. Most venos use a petite sawfly until they get a nix since they have good damage and are pretty fast. I plan to make mine forget its original bash skill and get flesh ream since unlike a magmite the whole point is to get as much damage as fast as possible in pvp. Magmites compared to most pets are slow, but durable tanks best suited for pve.
So to sum it up; forget about getting flesh ream on your magmite and upgrade bash to use the magmite as it was intended.0 -

Good point Belial I didn't even consider that lol. Being a fox form veno I rarely pull agro off my magmite even when I've used amp and extreme poison before any major skill.
I'd still suggest not getting flesh ream since sand blow can be used to gain more agro and costs you nothing to get already being one of you skills upon capture. I'd give that a shot before investing coins into buying pet skills and if its not good enough upgrade.0 -
As I use my Golem as a DPS tank, I'd say go for it. I'd also suggest putting Thunderbolt on there as well, to blast the annoying Wood Mobs most Venos have to deal with.0

I thought you couldn't as to the programming of the AI pet.Looking for a decent casual understanding Faction.0

No mysti you can add any of the available pet skills as long as there are open slots. In the case of some pets you might have to have them forget 1 or more skills in order to replace them with ones that you would rather have. In the case of the crystalline magmite it comes with 2 skills and 2 open slots easily making there room to add more. I see a lot of people adding tough to theirs if they don't chose to get a volcanic magmite that has the skill on it.
In my case I'm probably going to add pierce to mine and leave it at level 1 since the physical defense reduction helps greatly with fox form melee skills. I figure its a pve pet in my case and will be more advantageous as a tank than set up for dps.0 -
My Golem has bash, sandblast, fireball and Threaten.
I can actualy steal aggro from a higher level herc if I cycle all my golem's skills. For solo, I never have to worry about stealing aggro from itToo often we loose sight of life's simple pleasures. Remember, when someone annoys you, it takes 42 muscles in your face to frown, BUT, it only takes 4 muscles to extend your arm and slap that mother#$@%#^! upside the head.0 -

Uhh, good idea I never thought of that - I love the Physical Defense reduction as not only does it help with the foxform skills, but also the pet's damage .0
