PK or Questing

I am sure that there are many more than a few people like me who play the game to find and do quests. I am not interested in PK at all, but once you get to level 30, you HAVE TO be ready to get attacked anywhere you go outside the "safe zones".
I am all for a setting option that removes your character from the PK option entirely and permanently. This way if you want to do the story and do all the quests, you can do them without the constant harrassment of somone blasting you everytime you leave town. If you want a PK character, then you set it to such and it is permanently available to get slaughtered. If you're like me and want to work the quests, then you can do so without the harrassment of these powered up punks sitting on the quest area attacking everyone who came there to do the quest.
What do you say GM? Can that option be added? I know it can be. Why not give the quest players a break and put a leash on the rabid dogs you created with the ability to PK everyone over level 29? Let the PK gunslingers play with themselves while the PvE players enjoy the storyline and work the quests.

Looks like someone took a wrong turn somewhere.
Take a look at the server list next time. There are 2 PvP servers and 3 PvE.

    One word: PvE.
I think you started on a PvP server... on PvE you don't go PK for all after level 30 and can chose to go white name or blue name. >_>

this is a dead topic...chose a PvE server, where pvp IS an option

    pve = player vs. environment

ftr pk = murder / pvp = player vs. player

    There's 2 types of servers..

PvP Server.. anyone above lvl 30 can and wil be attacked outside safe zone
PvE Server.. Has the OPTION to turn pk on or off, (not sure how it works tbh, im not in a PvE server)

If you dont like the pvp server, reroll to a PvE

pvp servers: Harsland and Lost City. (by reading your post these are the servers you don't want to be on)

PVE servers: Sanctuary, Heavens Tear, and Dreamweavier (These are the servers you want to be on)

On pvp servers you are forced to get on pk mode at lvl 30
On pve servers you CHOSE to be on pk mode at lvl 30...

Perhaps you aren't aware, but there are two types of servers here.

PvE servers (Heaven's Tear, Sanctuary, Dreamweaver) are all PvP optional. You have to actually click a button to allow other people to attack you. If you just want to quest (like me) just don't hit the button. You can be blue-named your whole life.

PvP servers (Lost City, Harshlands) are the servers where PK-mode is mandatory at 30+.

Edit: 7 replies in under two minutes...this topic is srs biznes. =)

not very bright are you? that option has been in game since it was released.

    ITS CALLED A PVE SERVER.

there are 3 choices for you to pick from.

    Heavens Tear
    Sanctuary
    Dreamweaver

if you joined any other server it was your CHOICE to be on a server that has open pk once you hit level 30. if you dont like it reroll to one of those 3 choices and you can stay blue named forever and never be attacked by another player.

if you want to say you didnt know then maybe you should learn to read before you start. plenty of topics about people whining about pk already.
Staring at the wall is much more rewarding than playing PW.

With due respect to all of you that play MMO's all the time, and know this from the cradle - when I first downloaded the client, and started the game, it just asked me what server I wanted to play on. The server list *says* PvE and PvP - not what it means, or how it's implemented. I leveled up my first char up to 30, kept questing and playing on my own until some PK farmer decided I was ripe to blow away.

Then I had to drop everything I had done, throw away all those weeks of leveling, and start all over again on another server.

It's irritating, its involuntary and it's *not necessary*. All it would take to avoid this **** is 1) a splash screen, at Install, that explains PvP vs PvE on this system and requires you to scroll down and check an "I understand" box on the window, and/or 2) the ability to migrate a char from one server to another.

Instead *all* the PvPers scream "CAREBEAR" at the top of their lungs and scoff at the p00r n00bz who got screwed over.

Not particularly sportsmanlike, and not all that helpful.

Maybe if PW had put a bit of thought into it, and threw in a bit more info in one of those patches they are always applying, and this wouldn't be an issue anymore.

And maybe if a few of you sprayed a bit less gasoline on his corpse, the OP might want to play here, and the server might be a bit better for it.

To the commentor about me not showing up in the thread again, I was playing the game for the few hours since posting the original message. Sorry I don't hang out in the forums all day holding my breath to reply to messages.

When I started this game, as was said in an answering post, there wasn't any explanation about different servers. The game logged me on a server and that was that. If I can take my characters to a solely PvE server, then I'm on my way. PW didn't really make alot of things very clear to just startiing players but I guess it gives the "veterans" something to call people "noob" over. The real noobs are the ones who feel that they have to call people that. But that is beside the point of the original post. I like the PvE aspects tof the game and enjoy playing it even through the tedious back and forth DQ quests. Is there currently anything in the works for taking characters from one server to another or do I need to just scrap my characters and start over from the beginning on the PvE server?

You'll have to start all over again. The first 30 levels will be a breeze, though, specially since it's your second time around.

With the quest auto-pathing you can easily get lvl 1-19 done in around 3-5hrs. Cultivation depends on how lucky you are at getting that damn sprite drop.

This would be a one-time note at Install, not something you'd have to deal with every time you started the client. Then it would only apply to people *the first time they played the game*. Or, since you have helpfully linked the text of the very explanation I have asked for, imagine how difficult it would be for them to have that page pop up on the screen just like the daily advertisement. See how hard that is?

I didn't suggest a splash screen/explanation for your cellphone. I'm sure you can find your thumbs easily - you have them jammed in you favorite orfice.

I'm sorry, but the moment you CREATE a character..

You have the choice of a PvE or PvP Server. I'm assuming everyone is at least somewhat intelligent to guess what a PvP Server does and what a PvE Server does even with no knowledge of the game at all.

I mean at least you could guess that PvP means other players will kill you, and PvE means you just attack mobs.. like everyone knows PvP = (Player vs Player right?) and everyone knows PvE = (Player vs Environment right?)

    I mean...

YOU CLICK YOUR OWN DAM SERVER! YOU ALREADY MADE YOUR MISTAKE!! YOU HAVE A CHOICE TO UNDO THAT AND CREATE A NEW CHARACTER AT A NEW SERVER!!

There are so many choices already! It's always your fault for picking the wrong server
