mk i haven't played this game on american servers since the beta but i was wondering if PWI has transformed into another one of those games that you need to hurl out item mall money just to be able to level up at a rate decent to the players around you

i'm not trying to do any bashing of PWI cause i really liked the game when i played it i thought it was awesome...was just wondering if it is now in the stage where u almost need to use the item mall to be competitive

Reason i ask is because i check on the site from time to time and all i ever see on announcements is things regarding the item mall...much like many of the other games that have turned into an item mall wasteland

Nah, you do not need item mall at all. Although, being a free to play, and being funded with item mall purchases, I would recommend that if you like the game to go ahead and spend some money on it even if it is by buying item mall items from other players. That will help fund the game, which in turn means they will spend more money making it better.

<-has done it without charging real money
its doable and its not bad, 90s are a bit bad without cashshop but doable, you wont be the highest level first but you can be quite competitive

Its nice to know that you we dont get stuck at lvl 50.

I have not used any gold, and was not going to, but I think this changed my mind. Its a free game, so why not support the group that keep updating and expanding the game.

And even if you dont want to fork out the real money, you can always use the gold trading system. trading in game coin for cash shop gold. Its what I prefer to do. And since someone is still putting in the real cash to create the cash shop gold, you are contributing, without actually using real dollars.b:victory
Don't let my level confuse you. I've done this before.

in perfect honesty, without RL$, you simply won't be able to lv up with or be competitive with someone that has spent as little as $20 - cash shop buyers are not playing the same game at all, not even close.

example: $20 spend to your preferences. Some wise choices at low levels might include...

    Training scrolls: $1 for 2, each last 1 hour & add 50% more exp/spirit

Guardian charms: for a few dollars at low levels your more-or-less invincible (more), at 50% health, the charm "ticks" restoring all health (cooldown 10 seconds)

Land mount: cheapest is $10, with about $10 more bucks u can ride it as early as lv 20, enabling you to very quickly travel far faster than trying to just run everywhere

Geographical map: another couple bucks opens up ALL teleport locations, this eliminates time spent traveling to the waypoint for the initial opening of it

gawd, there's tons more look in the boutique section

the in-game gold trading feature is a bit overrated..the price of gold is set by other players >.> who are often greedy - by the time you grind, buy/sell/trade, farm for mats, your are either no longer interested in some item, or have lvd up beyond its usefulness - usually

as said though, you don't NEED these items...but your question was about being competitive with ppl in your lv range...the answer is NO

zomg the boutique is OP lol
at the same time though, when i spend or grind for gold, i expect the item to be worth it

    about mogwai's post..

You can do anything without spending RL money (only that makes a big difference to other games i played..)

come on, charms? only good to pvp, and if youre pvping you surely have already grinded, or have enough money to get a hp charm (the only real need there)

you can be competitive without a charm, thats for sure, in my case, i HATE using a charm, mp or hp, i dont like to never die, whats the point on being invincible?

this is the better "Free" game ive played, not gonna mention others but, i know this is worth mentioning

in another game "X" you have to pay to get to know the map, and, mostly get higher level

so, that game "X" are thousands of games, and this is not of those

My main is a lvl 91 Archer (don't care if you don't believe it), and I only spent 30 dollars on this game - I bought fashion and a mount. Even though we get lots of Cash shop updates, you do not have to spend money on this game. We have daily quests that help us level, we can grind and farm TT mats for our daily income. I never had money problems, BUT I PVE only. If you want to pwn in PVP, you have to spend real money. But that isn't my problem, I hate PVP with a passion. Cash shoppers have a lot better chance in PVP, like in every other games.

I have to agree with Archalt, PVE is doable without real money unless you're impatient lol... If you want everything fast, you gotta spend some $, but if you grind a few days, you can get the same stuff, just a bit slower.... I never understood why people wanna hurry to lvl or get cool stuff fast in MMOs... then they whine they are soooo bored -_-
