Updating server problems?

Ok first off I downloaded the game two days ago so im at game version #1:

Part 1:
When i try loading PWI i get a message saying "New patch version found (with two options) Update now (or) remind me later".

Part 2:
so as any person would i click "Update Now" which brings up my update settings (which are manually select server (ticked) and update server "patch" (the rest are left unpicked)"

Part 3: after confirming my "update settings" i get the PWI update client with two bars reading: "client already has latest version, Preparing to update"
which then brings a pop-up saying "Choose: Auto-update (or) cancel"

Part 4: after clicking "auto-update" on the "Choose pop-up" i once again confirm my update settings which takes me to the update client but as soon as i start updating the screen screeches to a halt at "Updating... Console_CMD.txt", which after brings up "file download appear error" with two options (again b:cry) which are: "Try again (or) stop update"...?

Part 5: i have tried manual updating and retried the auto-update function many times but i just get stuck at the same obstacle... except with the manual patch on stead of what we saw before as soon as i click "start" it says: "Reading the new patch" which instantly changes to: "update server connection fails, please try a other update server"?

Which brings me to say i have tried: Manual patching, downloading multiple language packs, a different update server suggested by another thread starter... so anyone got any ideas? b:cry

    sorry but, yes me and a friend had a look at it but everything we have tried doesnt work... just to add to my earlier post we are running a Windows Vista (basic) laptop.
    Any other ideas?

    Yes... so this is where im confused for three days i have been trying to find the problem but every problem that has been solved doesnt seem to be the solution to my problem b:cry
