Settings Question

For some reason,whenever I get a fair distance away from other players, they change to a 'Default' look.
Is this Normal? Is there any way I can change this?

    I'm not entirely sure, but you may want to check your distance and customization options in the UI panel of your settings menu. If not...then I dunno ><

    its normal if you have best graphics mode on CTRL F9
    follow above instructions if you dont want everyone to look plain

    So, I turned on the 'customizations' settings, and turned off Best performance, but for some reason, it's still happening.
    Is there anything else I can do? :3

    Did you hit apply before closing UI panel? After changing the items you stated.
