I don't know exactly what kind of information you could get on this based on research. I think this is more of an opinion matter. On the surface americans try to treat people with equality but inside they wrestle with stereotypes and racism/sexism that still eeps through into their everyday actions....unless your an **** who's just blatantly racist/sexist and doesn't even try to hide it.

I don't think I agree with you. At least not completely. I lived in the States for 2 years, so feel that I have somewhat of an outsider's perspective.

I think there are regional differences, individual differences, and cultural differences within American society in how equality is approached. Some people act it and live it. Some just pay lip service (pretend), but still have traditional views. And then there are the more vocal ones who are completely lost causes.

If you're working on a project, I think you should touch on all these possibilities. Progress towards equality has been made because of the many intelligent and enlightened people who have fought for it. The church is a patriarchy and would like to keep it a man's world. Consider that side of things, as this affects a great deal of the American population.

Good luck and hope your project is informative and successful!

Uh... I don't think this is the right place to get help for your homework...but I'll had my 1 and a half cents. b:chuckle

I don't think there will ever be any kind of equality in American society. If everything was fair and equal there would never be any progress because people would never get the motivation to strive to become better. Of course, we're a little bit closer to social equality than, let's say, 50 or even 100 years ago but the fact is that America was created because of people who wanted to conquer and dominate. There will always be people who believe that some deserve more than others.

Yeah... Out of here before somebody tells me I'm wrong and stupid. b:shutup
