Why are we doing this?

I noticed that this game has lacked one thing. This certain "thing" has made me, in previous game, forget about guilds and end-game. Yeah, I recently made a post in the immigration subject, but now I realized I never payed any attention to what the guilds were doing.

Because hmm... Somehow I was having fun and adventures with people. Yes, they were kinda like friends. Why isn't this happening here? Why has everyone determined to become high-level and make a great faction?

Just starting to see the downsides of a new-sheet-server. People are greedy-busy-serious from day one. I haven't met many people whom to just hang out and talk about ****.

This is a race, not a fun mmo game b:sad

I notice myself getting in the same rut. Every minute on the game seems to be oriented to gaining XP and money to be put toward stuff that can help me get more xp and money, wash, rinse, repeat. However, that being said, I do have fun when doing it, and I do have in game friends and faction mates that I can quest with if I want to, get help from and also help out, there's almost always someone on faction chat to talk to, etc. I guess you could say it's a benefit of being in one of the larger factions. ^^

    <3 Equinox!

When it becomes too hectic and I need a break, I play my alt... at a much more relaxed pace. lol

*will try her best not to troll*

No one really is doing anything, it is the way life is, not just in a game but everywhere, that you try to be amongst the people that share your same goals. It is really hard for a lvl 70+ to be the only one in his/her guild, and not being able to get a tank to say, efficiently tank his current level req FBs, TT runs, etc. he/she needs to have more players around the level to play. We have that, a lot of times, now that I am in Solstice, when we get with Equinox people a whole guild group to help 1 member from another faction with his FB or random boss.

It is funny though, how people complains about how unfair is it for high levels to get into just one guild. Instead of doing something to counter this. Did you know for example, that it takes me around 3 million XP to reach my next level?
It is the same experience it takes a level 1 to reach lvl 49,
It is the same experience it takes a level 49 to reach 60
It is the same experience it takes a level 60 to reach 65
It is the same experience it takes a level 65 to reach 69.

Not trying to act a smart **** here, trying to prove, that while it takes us 2-4 days of zhen to get 1 level. you get that many levels in the same time if you quest and grind correctly. This is how Equinox decided to start Solstice, and I can tell you, we've seen a lot of our members develop plenty of levels in less than 2 weeks the guild has.

So if you really want to stop the top 2-3 guilds dominating DW right now, level up. It is unfair to imply they should all break up just so everybody is happy. b:shocked

I have no idea from which point ou came up with the part that someone wants to see some factions fall apart? b:laugh

Yeah and who doesn't know that you need like astronomical amounts of exp to reach next level. Or the reason you are telling this is because some people find it sad that people get so determined to "reach a goal" so bad? Or smth like that..

On the other hand, is it me who doesnt remember the subject or all of this (previous post) was really irrelevant?

Sorry if what I tried to imply in my last post was too hard for you to understand, I will try being clearer on this reply. To me, Your thread = I CANT MAKE ANY FRIENDS CAUSE EVERYONE IS LEVELING I FEEL SO RONERY ///.-

Its a game, some people have fun competing, some have fun making friends, some have fun with challenges. Not everyone here shares your idea of whats funny.

It is weird though, cause my post above, tried to explain, how you can efficiently level and develop friendships ingame pretty easy. Less whining more grinding, eventually you get to meet a lot of people that shares your goals and BAM, there's tons of cool people to meet in Dreamweaver. And I hope that now I was relevant enough.

You seem like fun Eremedy. You can always hook up with a crazy scandinavian you know, I only bite from time to time, and seldom hard^^

Aaanyways. Even in the bigger factions it's not all about lets-get-to-lvl-99-asap. Sure, we do like to lvl up (who doesn't, nice gfx effect yay), but I tend to find myself doing alot of nothing aswell.. I dont like to grind that much, so if I can't find a nice bm to duo with, I tend to just "hang out" as you say, with some of the friends I've gotten since I started here. Hangin can be anything from sitting somewhere chatting, to doing in fb for no good reason (as in no tabs), or otherwise explore the nature of pw. I do love the challenge and pace of TW's tho, so for that I keep leveling when I can, and upgrade my gear when possible. I havent read anywhere that you cant combine competitivness with fun and games, so thats what I do b:pleased

Much love to your faction btw, you guys are cool. Havent met much of you, but I've been having some random convos with Dragons members, and you're all fun as hell.

Feel free to poke me whenever you want in-game. I always love to find new fun ppl to play with. Peace out from Balthier the super cleric b:chuckle

I think the game will be what you make of it. If you idle in W. Archo or a starting city and casually chat, you'll meet others who do the same. If you mostly zhen, you'll end up meeting more people who grind the levels.

I started on this game just over a month ago and, coming from WoW, I'm used to the "game starts at level cap" idea. So, naturally, I've mostly been grinding the levels. But I'd say I spend at least 25% of my time just messing around, exploring, soloing/duoing lower FBs for fun or helping friends and people in WC with random bosses.

Half of my friends list is now people who were asking for help with some of the bosses(Gouf/Chin/Khewy/Dismal/etc..). Lately, I've started making friends while Zhenning too. Some people like it quiet and AFK during Zhen but I've been in a few groups where we joke around and chat and time flies. So, it's still possible to be social and have fun while grinding away. b:laugh

I'm a bit lower in levels then most of you guys who have posted, but I have two cents sorta.

I have to agree with the original poster. I've met many people in my travels with both my veno and my cleric. Mostly people squad up because they're working on the same quest, chitter in squad, have some laughs and when the quest is over you add friends part ways and then they become a "Who is this and why did I add them?" a few weeks later. With larger factions and high levels, it's easier to always have people around, but for smaller factions it can get a bit lonely. I run my own faction and most of my members are quite a bit lower then me.

Not to start a veno argument with the following sentences, but how does one find people to hang with that aren't in their faction? At this level I try to find people to play with, but usually get the "Well you can solo it, you get better exp". Exp is nice, but who wants to sit for hours by themselves staring at/clicking on mobs? I'm not high enough for zhen, and I'm too high to be in the overly populated noob areas.

Please don't take this as emo or whining, or any other emotion that comes across in that direction. It's merely curiosity because it would be nice to have others to hang out with.

Maybe I'm lucky that I joined this game with a good group of friends... We went and made our own faction and level at our own pace having fun. Don't really care what the other guilds are doing around us. Is this sort of mentality really that rare in this game? Or is it that we're just focussing the spotlight too much on a select few guilds that are giving a waped perspective of the server as a whole?

Lol I think if you want more of that adventure type atmosphere then go to WoW. It's good for that...atleast in the lower levels.

I remember my 1st char in WoW...lvl 15 or so and the town I was in got attacked by a TON of level 60 horde. They were just **** the npc town gaurds and low lvls. Then a huge amount of alliance started coming in and the horde players got pushed back into the forest.

Was pretty cool to see. b:bye

I don't aim this reply at anyone who has replied or any one person, type of player, type of person, etc.
Now that my disclaimer is outta the way...
I think that it's easy to get spoiled in this game. I have tried a lot of the various mmo's out there. Some hand you the first 20 levels then introduce you to the cash shop and without cash items you're lucky to get a lvl a week. Others have decent playability and graphics but lacking in quests or dungeons. A few were very decent and quite fun but the community was beyond vulgar and immature and left me pondering humanity. Even yet one came sooo close but was constantly "developing" and my char build was shot after 6months of grinding and skill point collecting.
Then I come here. I'll skip the obvious comments on graphics, playability, quests, etc. etc. We all know about that. But the thing that sets this game aside for me is the fact that people have randomly helped me. People pm me to squad to fight common mobs for whatever our motives. If I need help with a boss or my fb's all I gotta do is say "can anyone help with (blank)?" and boom people are like "yeah, let's go". Any other game I have ever played that is not the response I would have/have gotten. Generally the response would have been a:silence b:something regarding I call on my mother for help in so many words c:something like "dumb noob".
This game rules. Some games higher lvl people have no use except to sit outside arena and pvp all day because the game is over for them.
I'm stoked to just talk to people for a few minutes. If we jive great,if not no big deal. I don't know, I've babbled and probably gone off topic. But just because someone isn't in your faction doesn't mean you can't talk.
Maybe you can make a personals thread/sticky? b:victory

Geezuz - that is actually a really good point... We do have helpful people here and they are friendly too - that is a good quality (something that impacts a game a lot but is never on the game developer's hands - that makes it cool and mystical - at least for me).

Well, I'm not complaining on the thing anymore since I have had fun for the last week and a few adventures (thus I'm not online so much anymore - someone even warned me about that, "trust me, if u get into 60s you will want to take a break").

Also discovered that when there are no events that the developer or the team has arranged, one can do that in his/her faction (IF it has enough active members of course - what is a reason for me liking avarage-sized guilds too - unlike gigaguilds being unpersonal (son't know for sure but sounds logical) and miniguilds being inactive in more ways then they should be).
And as for that - I meant that kind of activity anyway. Like people playing hide and seek or... Well you can't do much of these anyway so forget about it.

The other thing that I realized... I know too much of this server (all the big guilds, the history of them, the history of dramas, the celebrities of Dreamweaver...) - that is for it is a small one. Well but I guess I got used to it too.... For now.

    :)

@Geezuz - Lately when I've started over on a new character there hasn't been much help, but I do see and remember when the server did just start how easy it was to complete the below level 20 quests... no players + players trying to get stuff done fast. This game is one of the most helpful I've ran into, though. b:chuckle

Liiiii we miss your alt account activity in solstice <3 We'd love to help you there.

It's all about who you play with, while I was in Equinox roster, my helping would be done with lower level TT, FB's from levels 51 to 70. Now with the Solstice project, I barely get to see any FB over 51 yet, we will get to it one step at a time... Currently, cause of the levels of the people we play with, our help circles around Ch'in, Dismal, Jewel, Culti 49 bosses... stuff like that. Just like any other guild or player in the game, everyone needs to take the game, 1 step at a time and enjoy the whole trip.

all self-loathing aside, you should check other servers. last night with some guildies we had this talk. I made them make new characters for Harshlands, Heaven's Tear, Sanctuary. I don't think I need to explain their feelings when they saw how those servers maps ended up. 3 months ingame, we've already seen big guilds rise, big guilds fall, I've seen good players leave, and other fast levelers join. Time, devotion and willingness to play will show in the end which guild is more suited to dominate most of the map.

While we wait for that, grind and level up, have fun (whichever option we've talked earlier gives you fun). After all, that's why we are playing games. Stressing ourselves over who dominates and who has better gear or who gets better treats from GMs won't do much for our networking inside the game.

    Happy hunting <3

What's wrong with all you people? Log-In and LEVEL LEVEL LEVEL!!! ... And do it NOW! (J/K ... I like throwing in smart alleck "need-of-attention" phrases out there from time to time. Trust me, just kidding!)

Seriously, this game is what like-minded gamers make it.

I was suprised to see a RP Faction form ... I wasn't aware this game was geared towards RPers but I'm glad to see the Relic Hunters ( http://therelichunters.guildlaunch.com ) here on Dreamweaver. The server is slowly serving up a variety of guilds that cater to those with varying interests. I've been in a few RP guilds in the past so it was nice to see The Relic Hunters form.

I like the idea that the two larger factions on the server don't have their heads up their ****, for the most part ... well, besides me and my failed one liners that fail to get a laugh.

I've seen Eremedy alot in W.Arch ... I haven't talked to many people (a bit shy) but eventually I'll start yapping away ... warning though, I tend to chat about stupid things, non-game related issues, heh. And I like Mischa, she is always entertaining ... never bored when she is around. :)
