AOE grinding with pole?

I started a new BM with Polearm mastery and now I have a question.
Can I as a polearm BM Aoe grind or is it just a waste of time?
I know that an axe BM is better for this but after I read some topics and talked to some BM's I thought it would work with polearms also.
Now I'm lv39 and after some tests with my skills I can't imagine how Aoe grinding shall work with poles.
Is it just because of my lvl or should i change my weapon and use axes if I want to Aoe grind?
It would be great if some high lvl BM's could give me an answer and maybe even give some advices how to do it.

Sorry for the bad english.

    Hmm, 5 AoE skills for pole. Seems logical.

    You're about ten levels off from getting the skill you need for adequate grinding however. Ask resident forum potato Lyndura.

    Yes, you can AoE grind with Polearms, and it is very easy.

    The reason is because the "linear" AoE's are not really linear, they act more Fan of Flames skill and attack in a horizontal spray, like for example:

    o = player
    x = mob

    x x x x x x
    x x x x x x x
    x x x x x x x x

    o

    As long as the mobs are all infront of you, your linear AoE's will hit them all. Usually you use the next rotation:

    1.- Optional: Advanced Spark Eruption/ Glacial Spike
    2.- Fan of Flames / Drake Sweep
    3.- Fan of Flames / Drake Sweep
    4.- Optional: Piercing Winds
    5.- Meteor Rush

    And repeat.

    If Axe/Hammer does 100% when AoE grinding, then Polearm does a 85-90%.

    Of course, it is much easier/comfortable to use Axes, so if you're looking for just AoE'ing then Axes would suit you better.

    actually pole is a very good aoe fighter because of the knock back that saves your hiero or your hp you open with drake sweep then lions roar then you move so that all the monsters are in front of you then you use the knock back skill then you use magic sutra then physical sutra thne they will be back at you depending on speed and you use fan of flames drake sweep glacial spike bleed skill fan of flames , drake sweep, lions roar, knock back then redo yoru sutras and use diamond if you have to then repeat there will be a round like this then a round of no fury moves then a round like this
    :D lyndra's pattern is correct but in a semi different order that needed to be tweeked a little

    While this is of course very much true, its not all there is to it.
    Since grinding can get a bit repetitive in the game, and polearm AoE grinding offers more of a challenge while still doing a great jobs I'd imagine it's a lot more fun.
    Haven't ever used axes so dont know for sure, but since all their AoE's jsut hit everything and you dont rly need to think for yourself it might get boring a lot sooner.

    Thats all, don't flame me if I just spat out a lot of rubbish lol

    i agree with lyndura but just want to add this, when you get a group of mobs try to target one with increased life or defense and after using meteor rush you have time to use farstrike and drakes ray before they are back in melee range again. just adds a little dmg where it is needed

    Very nice, I'm a lvl 75 pole bm, and i grind on nightscream using pretty much this format.

    Although grinding is slightly disheartening at this lvl cause it takes so long to get even 5% lol.

    aoe grinding with pole is much cheaper then with axe, when you use meteor rush it gives you a couple seconds to use sutra (save charm) and can use your ranged attacks (farstrike then drakes ray) to kill while they can't attack. meteor rush has a very fast cooldown so can use often. as far as number of mobs try 4-5 at first and increase from there depending on what you can handle. at lvl 85 i can fight 12-15 of the 89 spiders with no problems, but it all depends on what you can afford as far as charms go.
