High gold price? Love your Cash-shoppers

b:laugh I see a lot of hate and jealousy towards cash-shop users, which I don't understand. Why?
...because this server isn't cashlands, its PVEland. The gold price is determined by the supply of cash-shop users vs. the number of hours played by non-cash shop users. Players on this server simply play waaay too much, and there are too many who don't cash shop their portion of the play-time. Look at funlolz and nova_, for examples.
Imo this is sort of a 2nd "reject" server, because most people who invested hundreds of real life $$ in lost city/sanc who come to play here, don't want to spend hundreds again. They want to save money and grind everything they need. The "slow levelers" and newbs from other servers also came here to get a fresh start, but didn't change their non-cash shopping ways. Thus we have everyone wanting to buy gold, but not enough people selling.
The events ruin gold prices even more, because not enough people recharge zhen to take advantage of the events. Instead they empty out their game-coin even more, and then complain about buying gold for ~200k a piece during events.
Bottom Line? Be nice to the major cash shop users. They determine how easy it is for all you non-cash shop players. It's not hard to spot them, Shinigamii is one, as well as Alex, dracolee, XlegendX, possibly DiabLo and Godsfear (yes I know some of them have quit, and that only adds to the problem). And what do they have in common? Save for Alex, none of them are in the top 50. No, they're busy working their tails off in real-life jobs to help supply all you no-lifers with more gold b:chuckle. The more cash-shoppers that quit, the higher gold prices will become. So everyone, please log on today and go hug your nearest cash-shopper and thank them for their generous work b:victory
and btw, the only real solution to this problem is for everyone to charge 50 zen (yes even you non-cash shoppers), and stop buying gold for awhile. That's the only way to drive down gold prices to a repectable level.

I agree with most of what you said. I don't even bother buying gold on the AH anyway. But I will sell gold if I need coin because there are idiots out there paying 160k+ for it.
If I ever need gold I reach into my pocket and pull out my bank card, and charge the measly $10-$50 to buy it. I don't buy gold often because I am not close enough to end game, but I have splurged on a flying mount, and a panther using my RL money.0 -
I can officialy say that I have only cash-shopped once, and that was under substantial need of it never plan to do it again.Wonhalt0

Nailed it on the head.
Doesn't mean people are any happier when they're killed by someone with awesome gear though .
And wow were there a lot of those one-weekend mounts running around. But to demonstrate the point, there weren't nearly as many as there were HellHounds on Lost City...0 -
Not EVERYONE who has a job, and plays this game spends there money in cash shop. Alot of us people who play, probably have jobs, but would rather not spend so much, or any real life money on a game. 200 bucks? That's almost my half of rent for a month. No thanks. I prefer the free aspect of the game. Why would I spend 50 dollars on a game when I could think of so many real things that I would much rather spend that 50 dollars on? 160k for 1 gold? Who cares? You're spending made up money on something you usually need REAL money to buy. Especially with the economy the way it is now, jobs are hard to find, and us who have one, need to be worrying about losing them. Saving money is just something that needs to be done, a necessity. Think about it, if you get paid minimum wage, (where I live it's 6.50 or 6.75, I forget) you just pissed away pretty much a full eight hour work day on a game. I just wished the process worked the other way around, ie, paying 160k to buy a real dollar that pw would send you in a check or something. Wishful thinking.
So, to go along with your thread, THANK YOU cash shoppers for:
1. Using your mom/dad's credit card to buy zhen. or....
2. Getting paid more then I do ($13.27/hr) or....
3. Getting paid a crappy wage, but have nothing better to spend money on. or....
4. Not having to pay for: Rent, gas, food, kids, school, etc. (The necessities) OR....
5. And if you find yourself not in any of those categories, then thank you for making 100+ grand a year. Thank you for supplying me with Zhen that I don't have to spend my hard earned money on. Zhen that I can buy with MADE UP money. b:thanks0 -
The true aspect of this game is that non cash shoppers are needed in order to make life easier to cash shopper. Why grind if you can sell charm... thats what happens.
Non cash shopper use their time to grind and farm while cash shopper (who generally have less time to play) sell gold or premium items in order to make things easier.
Thats the way its is, both sides are needed.0 -
By the way, the cashshoppers are the ones that are raising the prices, not the other way around. The non-cash shoppers are just the ones forced to pay ridiculous prices.0
-
atleast they get to have the luxury items for free, benefiting those without a credit card, or just on some sort of benefits in which they cant offord to throw there money down PWI's bottomless money hole.0

The gold market is anonymous for a reason, it makes it hard for gold sellers to collude, and thus raise prices, since its so easy for one to "cheat".
What I mean by this is, pretend the fair market price for gold is 150k. Say every single gold seller got together an decided to raise the gold price to 250k coins. Ridiculous, right? But its possible if every single gold seller agrees not to sell for lower than 200k. However, pretend that ME, one of the "evil price - gouging" gold sellers, decided to cheat and sell 100 gold for 200k. Well, what happens is EVERYONE buys my gold, and I win out because I still get to sell my gold for 50k above fair market price. The other gold sellers see this, and decide that since people are cheating, they might as well cheat and sell for lower than 200k. This is only possible because the the market is Anonymous, and thus, the cheater can't be "punished" because no one knows who the cheater is.
Of course this assumes I'm able to put in an unlimited amount of gold into the game, but I hope you get the general idea. Cash shoppers are not out to take advantage of you, they just want to enjoy the game[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]

And this is why i just want to hit 90, get gear, and just log in for the casual TW/RPK. Why expend money on a PvP that doesn't even PvP. Im almost 90 and have yet to have any 30min+ fight.
Hell, w/o QQme crazy ppl there wouldn't be any real TW until like a month or more which would be equal to me being able to hit 94+ from just cube+dailies+around2hour grind a day.
Besides the "high lvl ppl leaving" age of this server may even come sooner than in any other server turning this into a even less attractive server for cash shoppers, whom expect at least some sort of fun out of the money invested.
PvE simply doesn't cut it. GL to Icon being only person actually wanting to hit 100 atm (i guess lvl 92 already Gratz) I know he will **** a load of PvErs later on.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]0 -

LMAO!!!
Butt hurt much?
I've got better things to do than to grind/farm for hours on end. Perhaps you have no life, or actually enjoy sitting there making $1-$2 per hour in game. lmao
Sure, my best ultimate sub route can earn me 6-7 subs an hour, but when you look at it, I'd much rather spend that time actually working instead of running around in circles for hours on end.
So you don't want to spend real money, good for you, but it doesn't make you any better or worse than someone who would. So, get over yourself.
Then again, I'm someone who actually buys CDs and DVDs, and I don't pirate software either. lol Guess I just lose at life ;P0 -

I hope you don't have cable, or internet, or even a TV, because cable costs $50 per month, plus a TV which costs ~1k, that much money just to sit on a couch for hours and watch fake images of people pretending to be someone else acting out pretend lives, is laughable b:chuckle[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]

Well, to PvP you actually needs dolls, that costs some money actually, and if you see a nix you tend to run. I do, what the point in just dying to FR. Besides to PvP you need charm (also money) so most ppl just try to lvl.
Plus theres the TW fact, most of the strong guilds dont even have KoS, and actually avoid it. So even more less PvP.
I like sometimes to PvP but when angeRR comes I just run, lol, he Accelerate and catches me and then I whisper him "LOL, you got me again b:surrender"
I think theres not enough ppl on this server, many just wanna hit +90 or +100, I dont know, I think that having such a high lvl cap, you actually never stop to enjoy the game (whether its pvp or pve) you just lvl, lvl, lvl like a machine to best the highest.
Pking you need money (referring to coins mostly) and not some many can afford it bcs it takes time to grind for that money0 -
Tryagain - Harshlands wrote: »By the way, the cashshoppers are the ones that are raising the prices, not the other way around. The non-cash shoppers are just the ones forced to pay ridiculous prices.
Supply and demand. Fewer cash-shoppers causes the supply curve to shift to the left, increasing prices.
More demand from non-cash-shoppers shifts the demand curve to the right, also increasing prices (since everyone wants to powerlevel on this server and always grind with mijis, carry dolls, have charms, get the latest Neinbeast [well ok, I don't think many non-cashshoppers actually bought that, but some probably did).
Cash-shoppers aren't to blame for the high prices. It seems that way, since many of the high levels are. But many aren't as well, and many more aren't than on Lost City and the other old servers. When I left for Harshlands, I could because I hadn't put in much on LC. The small bit I had I gave to a friend. But there were people who'd just bought hercs and nixes in my guild. They, and most other people who'd invested into the old servers, stayed. The people who'd invested little there, either in time or money, are the ones who came here. That's why our prices are so much higher.
Even though I'm very envious of the gear some of them have since I don't put much into this game (and clericing is expensive using coin QQ).

the in-game economy right now is screwed up and seems no one has a real solution. it is governed by greed. everyone just wanted to sell for more and more driving the prices up b:sad0

Lol, greed is what makes this game works actually.
Greed for lvl
Greed for rank in PvP
Greed for owning TW Maps
Greed for getting money out of our wallets
Greed greed xD

Gold price is 1million+ for 1 gold now .... crazy peoples ><0

Wow, where did you even find this thread?0

Wonder if Burnout still agrees with his own post here lol.0

My post still applies, but with a few changes. Packs, of course, represent a massive influx of coin into the economy. It effectively takes gold out of the economy and injects coins/items instead. This creates a shortage of gold and a surplus of coins.
In addition, in the past it was necessary to sell gold for coins to buy essential items like TT materials. Now, TT is worthless, and R9 can be bought from the Cash shop with pure zen, so there are less people that need to sell gold for coins. There's nothing really useful you can buy with coins, so it creates even more inflation.
In short, since cash shoppers no longer need to sell their zen to buy TT mats/etc, and packs convert zen into gold, we have a situation where the price of gold will just increase forever over time. There are certain resistance points, of course. They are at the common 1 million, 1.5 million, 2 million price points, etc. This marks the point where people become less willing to buy gold because the number seems "big". Eventually the demand for gold overcomes that and gold jumps up suddenly.
On another note...my 1 PWRD stock jumped 15% today...LOL.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]

When Zen and Cash Shopping crossed the line into selling levels (hypers), power (reputation) and the best gear (R9), this game changed from one of achievement to one of competitive spending. A sort of expensive solid gold paper doll simulation.
But,... Regardless of just how totally venal it has become, it is still an incredibly rich MMORPG, tons of lore, tons of different ways to combine gear, skills, and buffs, and a wide variety of activities. A fairly vast and gorgeous world. I will be sticking around for a long time. I prefer to experience the content, not skip it to the end by paying a premium. I see new people come in, spend a ton getting 'situated', gear, mount(s), weapon, fashion and lastly hypers and reputation. Before you know it they are in the 100's and bored to tears, and not long after they leave. The turn over or churn is really something and at least it helps pay for this whole thing, but it has pretty much hollowed out the original team based leveling core.
In my faction, it is rare to hear of a team of about the same range players running an instance or cultiboss, but instead one or two same range players getting 'helped' by a higher level faction mate through the same content. With a whole new generation of players coming up that rarely get to practice their skills in a team, it is no wonder you hear more and more complaints of about the level of overall incompetence.
PW seems to be making money hand over fist so I don't see why they can't do a few things to reward old school type players. It seems reasonable to be able to expect new players to find full same level range teams for their FBs and later BH's.
While I am sure there will be howls of 'that's never gonna happen' or 'that's just plain dumb', it would mean alot to those of us who came in expecting team based and achievement based play if there were better incentives to playing through the content in squads and adjust the drops such that farming is not like working for $1 an hour. They seem to have abandon the middle ground. It's either pay to get to the end and play gear paper dolls or grind thousands of hours (mostly solo) to get there.Just some guy0
