Bow or Not ??

My question is when a mob gets into melee range should an archer be switching to a melee weapon or stay with bow and take the -50% dmg. I could kite but I'd rather stand my ground and not have to kite, takes less time.

Thanks in advance for your time and input !!

well ya should be keeping enemies away with frost arrow and knockback
at melee range use melee skill such as winged pledge/wingspan
    gets easier with higher levels

Low level archers (20 and below) do this often. Some also like to use fist/claws until lvl 30-40 ish.

If you don't like to kite you can also squad with people (tank, bm) and just dd.
If you don't have knockback or the freezing skill yet, you might want to kite for a bit or squad. The 50% damage reduction sux but the bigger problem is your low hp.... b:chuckle

IF the mob gets into melee range, do as Mosz suggests, use the melee skills you can.
It's worth bearing in mind that your lighting attacks bear full power in melee range, though not too effective against Metal element mobs.

Up to 19, it's not too bad of an idea to keep a melee weapon handy, though I found fists better than swords. Once you hit 19 and get knockback arrow, and then later frost arrow and things like lightning strike, wingspan, and winged pledge (all do full dmg in melee), it stops being an issue. Plus, the fists you can equip then are too low lvl to be effective.
