Blessing skill on Hercules?

Hi there, would anyone happen to have any experience with the use of the Blessing of the Pack skill on a Hercules? I understand this would mean the loss of an aggro skill like Bash.

I mainly use my Herc for Twilight Temple and FB purposes in parties. If I removed the Bash skill and replaced it with this, would Hercules have a difficult time holding aggro against, lets say, the Sharpen Tooth skill from an archer as the fight begins, or any high dps class for that matter?

Plus would this hurt me while training while training out of dungeon? I'm an 8x LA build, so the crits will..yeah.

Thank you for any help. I'd especially appreciate info with those who currently have the skill on their Herc.

Just try it. Next time you do TT in a party, explain that you want to test if the herc can hold aggro without an aggro skill. Make sure everyone has guardian angels. Have the cleric wait in back and not attack (so he can rez everyone if you wipe). Turn off your herc's Bash skill, and start attacking.

And report back to us the results of your experiment. b:chuckle

that would only be useful on world bosses and TT bosses. the 75% dmg reduction would make aggro virtually unstealable except in the case barbs going FR crazy. herc doesnt lose aggro :P

Haha, I did a little searching before I posted and found this thread which lead to my concerns. Totally different skill, but she sacrificed Bash, though I don't know what level both the user and pet was at at the time of the post. As well as a few bosses like Astralwalker in 2-x, since its ranged and Bash/normal attacks are the only thing keeping it held. But I'll definitely try that out this weekend with everyone and post again. b:thanks

I think i was level 74 or so when i posted that. With claw I don't have much trouble keeping aggro on bosses, once the herc hits a few times. But multiple mobs cause me some problems. The herc doesn't get enough aggro, to switch between them.

With claw4 I have 25% more damage than you will have. So I suspect you will have even more trouble with multiples than I do. You may even have trouble on single targets/bosses.

I don't know your money situation, and how much you can get blessing of the pack for. If you have plenty of money, then try it. It always keeps things interesting to try new stuff. But if you're poor enough to miss the the cash, then I wouldn't suggest even trying. I don't have much hope for it working well.

Wow... a veno actually put CLAW on a Herc. sigh. I'm sorry you found out the hard way of how disasterous that is.

As to the OP: I have a hercules with blessing of the pack. And let me tell you, it can not hold aggro worth jack on mobs, fb's and bosses.

A Bless Herc is PURELY for TT tanking. I do a LOT of TT and my herc can tank where most herc's cannot. As it stands, my herc has 5.5k hp buffed. It has no problem tanking any boss in TT (except for AE, but with new genie skills, he a joke anyway). Aggro wise? no problem. Bramble is enough since most bosses Reflect more than any player can do. I say if you plan on doing TT, go for it. I got a nix for everything else :P.
b:bye you were all swell peoples

I read everyone's response and tried it out today (inadvertently =x) at Coredash. Herc still held aggro after sharpened arrow and the other pure INT attacker, so it seems alright. I didn't try it out with bosses that they have an elemental advantage over though because of the time.

Your posts also allowed me to rethink the situation if put Blessing on it, but that may not be a good idea in this case. While it does open a window of new opportunities for tanking other bosses, mob/boss control outside of TT is still important. We have a BM that tanks, but I don't want it to get to the point that it overwhelms him if someone else accidentally takes aggro.

I already have the Blessing skill, I got it dirt cheap off AH, so I can invest that money into my barb for tanking bosses that Herc cannot handle.

Thank you all so much for your responses!

well for outside TT/world bosses, just use a golem, so much easier, herc can be TT money maker, and golem is better for quick term leveling :P
