A number of names I find offensice, inappropriate and disturbing in the servers:

    You, as creator of your Account and User ID, are solely responsible for your User ID . PWE will not tolerate offensive or obscene User IDs. If a User ID violates any part of these terms, we may immediately, temporarily, or permanently ban such a User ID, with or without notice.


    SUBSECTION 10, PARAGRAPH 2,

    (a) User Content that is unlawful, libelous, defamatory, obscene, pornographic, indecent, lewd, suggestive, harassing, threatening, invasive of privacy or publicity rights, abusive, inflammatory, fraudulent or otherwise objectionable;
    (b) User Content that would constitute, encourage or provide instructions for a criminal offense, violate the rights of any party, or that would otherwise create liability or violate any local, state, national or international law,

    There are inappropriate names everywhere that have been in the game for quite a while. The GMs must be slacking or dismissing it which is really bad and annoying. We the players will just have to live with it. Recently the *'s do not block all bad words, it must have been changed along with allowing the word "Japan" ,which was earlier considered as a bad word (we don't know why).

    The dictionary definition of **** is not an insult to anyone. It means donkey as the primary meaning. You would have to use it in a sentence to be offensive, but again, lots of regular words can be offensive when used in a sentence.

    The others, you may have cause to submit a ticket to support.

    That's not even some of the worst I've run across people on Dreamweaver with names like "Blow_me", "Gspot", "Cumshot" and even a guild named "Cumspot". It's horrible and really needs to be dealt with.
    (cumshot and spot my have been switched around, they were so similar I forgot which was which)

    Outragious! Chairman Mao will hear of this! We need to send those people to re-education camps or lock them up in mental hospitals.

    Caledfwlch is an anagram for a dirty word isent it? I see at least 10 different offensive words in 100 languages that I may or may not know.

    Man, you all must have been sheltered children. I don't have any characters with anything near offensive, unless you consider BamBamm to be offensive, but still...why do you care? How at all is Gspot, ****, or **** offensive?
    They may be private matters but far from offensive. Unless of course you're something like a very strict baptist or something.

    There are also guilds called Racist, ShytStain, and TurtleSEX. I just shake my head and keep moving. It's unnerving how many TurtleSEX members there are around b:shocked

    Although I laughed when I passed an **** and a ShytStain close to each other. And I downright cracked up when I saw two players a while back, Blow_Me and Moneyshot, in that order on my screen. I didn't SS fast enough though and they moved on after they finished whacking the mob.

    We don't have to be sheltered to find private and/or sex related things used as player names in an mmo offensive. This game is supposed to be more or less pg rated and I've heard of people who let their children play this game, and if it weren't for names like the one I mentioned and other terrible talk that occurs on this game I would let my children play it. It's not a bad game, it just has really disgusting people. Honestly, how can you think that Gspot and Cumshot are appropriate names for a character.

    Some things will offend some people and not offend others. It is as simple as that. Names, clothing, words in world chat, etc, etc, etc.

    There is NEVER going to be a way to please everyone in this game. I can list countless things that people complain about but in simple reality is not an issue to others.

    Having said that...Yes, the TOS states that names must not be "offensive or obscene," fine but define that? Like I said before, different definitions for different people.

    So, if you so happen to see a name or anything that offends you, I suggest you take a screen shot and submit a ticket. There are WAY too many players for the GM's to be walking around playing the Name Police. I would rather them spend there time getting people who bot, who are stuck, etc. Why waste there little in-game time on names, besides they let them go through in the first place b:surrender

    argue over whats offensive and whats not, whats censored and what should be all you want (it will likely go as long as the nix threads). The pure and simple point is that, as it was initially pointed out, they are violating the terms laid out and agreed to in order to play the game. To ignore this is hypocritical and opens the door to further violations. I have seen people use perverse language in World chat constantly and for about a week some of the guilty accounts were suspended (all be it temporarily). Either it got to be too much or it got to be a question of money (as you do have to pay to use World chat) and they stopped suspending accounts.

    I suggest that if the GMs are not willing to police the guilty accounts then they should at least implement some kind of stronger censor to include character names. It could even be turned on and off like a parent control to give everyone the choice. But it should then also be taken out of the rules of use to avoid hypocracy

    as players we still have the option to submit complaints with screenshots...

    The TOS also says you have to be 18 years of age to create an account, or 13 years old with parental consent. Also mentions that you may be exposed to mature content.

    Most likely when they get a report for something offensive, they put it through the sensor software, if it gets flagged, than they will take action.

    Remember, for some people, reading when you type about having a great pork chop for dinner, is highly offensive, so should you be banned for typing about your dinner habits?

    I am not support vulgar language, but we really need to be careful when expecting a company to censor content...

    Exactly, this was my point. What is offensive to one may not be to another. It is a tough call and yes there are a lot of people who play the game who are not 18 years of age. That is on the parents and not the responsibility of the GM's.

    And I think that your last line is perfect. I don't really care to be honest, there are worse things that I can see in a movie or on television on the radio etc. But it does get tricky when dealing with the opinions and feelings of people. You just cannot please everyone all of the time.

    Maybe they just need to fix the "name filter," to work like the chat filters. Although, people find there way around that one all the time.

    Overall, its a tough call and if they have not done much about it yet, they probably won't anytime soon. Especially with everyone begging for the Genies, or the Cube bugs or a number of other things...when all they have to do is be patient, let them do there jobs b:surrender

    before arguing for knowing what is or what is not tolerable..

    just ask yourself:

    1 = is V A G I N A a name you would give your daughter?
    2 = do you call your wife "****" ?
    3 = do you want to work for a company that calls itself "A S S H O L E" ?

    I do believe that that any ppl above 12, and with a little education would never do any of the 3 points above.

    Ppl that uses those kinda names arent the ones the involves themselves really in the game, but (majorly) brainless 12Yo that plays because the game is "Free"
    I look at all the trollers, and Pvpers.. and know they wouldnt have lasted 30sec on Camelot.

    Rules= Know your enemy (players and NPCs) gives you more chances to survive.

    it came out as: "brb gonna go get some **** beer" many people asked me wtf i typed and i am like "**** beer"

    First = I think that it is presumptuous of you to assume that the "majority' of people using "inappropriate" names are the 12 year olds. I know that quite a few ppl who have these so-called names are over the age of 18.

    Second = Everyone has there opinions and I respect yours so kindly respect mine.

    Third = Your points are fine, but I think that you have taken it a little out of context. We are talking about a game, a fantasy "world" in which people feel they can do whatever they please (for the most part) and be someone other then themselves in many cases. And maybe doing what they please involves saying things/naming things what they deem to be funny. It may NOT be funny to ALL, but to some it is.

    Fourth = In no way am I in support of many of the names, but the fact is they are still in the game. Like I said in a previous reply, if you see something you deem to be offensive, take an SS and send in a ticket. This will most likely be the easiest way to solve or let the issue to be known.

    So lastly, before you argue what is tolerable or not, please read the above posts. We are all in agreement that there are names that may offend some, but that does not mean they offend all.

    This is the way it works in real life every single day.

    personally i think those names are of some concern but not THAT much. now if the names were like n.iggerkiller, jewishkillspree, or something like that THAT would be something to delete right on the spot.

    Well here is a suggestion might seem indecent but it's a opinion..the should take out the considering in the chat..cause it's your buisnes if you wanna talk to someone with dirty words..people find ways to avoid it anyway,and another reason some words in other languages that don't have that sense in eng are censored.For example in romanian "****" is not what it means in eng..it really means in translation "how",so guess as a romanian i cant use my how in the guild chat that i am(we are a romanian guild),even if you use it as a swear ppl can just type c.um to avoid censoring so no protection anymore.Tho names that all people can see that are always in your eyes should be censored or GM's have the decency to pay those people a visit and change there names..A funny example.a friend who played Anarchy Online named on of his chars Fixmyass..a GM came to him warned him and changed his name.. Ao is a good example,they let you express freely things in chat..you can swwar a player if he finds it offensive he writes a ticket to a GM and that guy will get a warning..3 warnings and he gets a few days ban.So yah Inappropriate Names should be changed but the chat itself ..ah ppl can use Inappropriate words cause it dosent offend the whole server's community.

    if you all ever see player/pet/guild names that you find offensive the best course of action is to report it to the CS/GMs through their ticketing system:

    If a GM is in game and sees an offensive name they will take action but a LOT of bad names slip past us (along with our word filtering system when users submit these names) - so typically most names that we do take action on are reported by other players.

    Ok we will but i think that we could prevent these actions if we also take down the censored in chat..people often use these names as a revolt against the chat censor..in a mind of such type of person(trolls imo) they think like this.."Mezza can't swaer in chat than mezza gonna make guild or name char/pet as swear cauze mezza can do that yaaaar!"b:chuckle i actually came across a person that told me this or something the same..in another mmo if i recall tho.

    It might be useful for you to re-read the Terms of Service. If someone is allowing their children to play this game, they are in violation of Terms of Service. This game requires the player to be an adult, and you agreed to this, in order to play.

    Not sure where you got the "PG rated" idea from.

    Further, if someone is complaining about "adult" names, they are evidently in violation and have defrauded the game company by agreeing to terms they never intended to follow.
