Perdition: Defense Piercing?

"Consume all ones Chi, and trade half of all HP and mana for a massive attack to all targets in a range of 12 meters from the caster. Inflicts 4000 physical damage. Each point of HP and mana consumed in casting adds an additional 4.0 damage."

this is the text for level ten perdition. if perdition "inflicts 4000 physical damage," does that mean it will ALWAYS do 4000 or more damage FOR SURE, REGARDLESS of the target's physical defense?

    I don't know about the p-def thing, but it wouldn't hit 4k automatically every time, because all attacks get reduced 75% (I think) in PvP. b:bye

    "Inflicts 4000 physical damage.

    This does not negate your opponents physical defense. It says 4000 physical damage, which means your opponents physical defense will counteract it bit.

    Umm every skill has a set damage output. For e.g. Mighty swing at lvl10 deals base physical damage plus 1271.8.
    The numbered damage output is constant (I think), the base part is variable depending upon your weapons variance.

    And yes in PvP theres a automatic 75% damage output reduction and then the damage is reduced further depending on the enemy's % damage reduction for the physical or magical attacks.

    Umm every skill has a set damage output. For e.g. Mighty swing at lvl10 deals base physical damage plus 1271.8.

    The set damage output is merely a bare minimum; thus, you can never hit a 0 on anyone. It's either a resist (from a pot or skill), or a damage of 1+.

    This being said, you won't always hit exactly what the numbers state. Perdition can say it will inflict 4000 additional damage, but there is no guarantee you will hit for 4000 of your opponent's HP no matter what. 4000 damge directed at their physical defense is constant, however.

    i see. so what you're trying to say is that if it says "physical damage" such as when it says "4000 physical damage," it means the physical defense will stop some of it, as long as the damage is physical like it is stated on the skill?

    yeah, for example if you have 75% physical damage reduction, you will recieve 1k damage off a skill that does 4k damage

    now the real formulas will be complicated since it also includes levels etc. probably, but thats the basic idea

    All it means when it says its doing physical damage is that it is physical, so that automatically means pdef is what matters when calculating damage like a few otehrs said. if a skill does a set amount of damage while ignoring defense i am pretty sure it would directly say so, and also wouldnt be nearly as strong as perdition lol.
