Not that I know of, Windows only as far as I'm aware0

Never tried actually.
But u could try with WINE, or some virtual machine, to run PWI.Working on sig atm, Im missing it due to lack of ideas.0 -
i have a linux system and pwi isnot playable on it
it looks good at first though...0 -
There is Two guides on the forum.
PWI is playable on linux operating system since wine received a update on d3d instructions.
There is no more texture corruptions and random crash. You can check out the page of PWI on winehq and use search button for more informations.
Oh I forget to precise, you need a good hardware to support pwi or the game wont launch.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]0 -
THere were some issues with the old Wine versions, but i think with the new 1.1.19 it got sorted out (skill icons were scrambled).
So it works with wine 1.1.19+, and a detailed guide you can find here (thanks to Alyai - Lost City)0 -
tnx everyone for all your help i appreciate it.0

VirtualBox is a virtualization software where you install one (guest) OS inside another (host). So, with this, you still need another system to run PWI, like installing WindowsXP inside Ubuntu, so it will not let you play PWI in linux at all (I mean, why do you want to virtualize Windows inside Linux, when you can use Windows alone?). If you still want PWI in Ubuntu, install Wine from here, and follow the guide from here...
Good Luck...0 -
i apologize for the inconvenience, but i am using a friends computer so i am unable to change operating systems. as far as the link u give for PWI in linux i have used that but it takes 5minutes to register one step. unless anyone can help me figure out how to speed up the processing then i am stuck with what i can get a hold of.0
-
VirtualBox should be in your repositories. Unfortunately, 3d support inside of virtualbox is lacking/almost nonexistent. So if you intend to game through that... Don't waste your time.
WINE is the way to go. Works flawlessly, and even better than windows for a friend of mine.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]0 -
i see tyvm, can u tell me how i can bring wine up to speed? i am currently using the most recent version of wine but it takes nearly 5minutes to register one step. unfortunately as a cleric that makes me pretty useless.0

Such thing would happen from either 1) hardware lag, or 2) internet lag. I'd tip its the former, or for not fully installed drivers and 3d acceleration. Also see if you have directX installed in wine itself, and retry...0
-
ty i doubt it is the hardware because before the OS was changed the game ran just fine. what is the website for directX for linux i dont believe i've found it0
-
Uh, there isn't one.
download and install winetricks from your repositories, and then type in the terminal "winetricks"
It should pull up a menu that lets you grab directx 9, and it installs it for you.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]0 -
what does the following mean? i am not familiar with computer OS. u can say i'm computer illiterate and the one who knows nething bout the computer had to leave for a bit and we r unaware of when they will return.
err:setupapi:do_file_copyW Unsupported style(s) 0x1440 -
Uhh.. It looks like the windows api for whatever you're trying to install isn't compatible. I remember seeing something similar on my friend's PC when installing directx...
Does it say anything else? what are you doing when it says this?[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]0 -
that is what shows up in the terminal as directx is installng0
-
Does it fail at that point, or keep going? If it keeps going, you should be ok.
If it stops, retry it. If all else fails, try updating WINE again. Version 1.1.20 is out now...[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]0 -
it keeps going but continually sayz the same thing0
-
Oh, ok...
Hmm...
I dunno. Here's an excellent video tutorial: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t32GRBnc0T0
The only other thing I would suggest is watch the video and add the registry keys before installing directX.
Just a quick note: Adding registry keys is as easy as right clicking, then choosing new key. Just type the name exactly as shown in the video, and set the data correctly afterwards and you should be ok.

tyvm i appreciate it.0

pardon me loltank but that video didnt help. the guy is using a different setup then i am.0
-
It should work across all distros...
Either way, the regedit bit should work... So try and at least check that part... Other than that much, I don't have much else I can do without being there... My apologies.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]0 -
it is no problem tyvm for helping how u can.0
