Item Drop Rate

I'm not sure about the sources, but several people told me that an item's drop rate increases if I am in a party of people of similar level. Can anyone confirm this please? In addition, if it is true, what is considered "similar level"(Like 5 levels above me?)

I never heard about, and never experienced such a behaviour.
Sounds like rumours to me.
Although, this would be really reasonable, because in a party one has to share the drops with the other members.
