As a barbarian, which skills should DEFINITELY be maxed, and which should be left at level 1?

Please don't tell me that it depends on what I want. I just need to know which ones are worth leveling, and which ones aren't.

These are the skills I have so far:

-Feral Regeneration 1
-Shapeshifting Intensity 1
-Swimming Mastery 1

-Stomp of the Beast King 1
-Garrotte 1
-Swell 1
-Mighty Swing 1
-True Form 1
-Flesh Ream 1

Ty b:victory

PS: As a peripheral question, should I put +Acc gems, or +Physical attack gems into my weapons?

I spend all my time true form and have had no problems so far levelling the appropriate skills as and when they become available. Not sure how this will change going forward.

There is some really good guides at the top of the page about skills and builds. Not sure about the gems questions, not been in a pick and choose postion yet....

I've read the guides, and some of the skills I have aren't discussed.

Well here is what I did.. i made sure to get anything that makes me a "tank" lvled up first,
like Fleash Ream(the barb staple skill), Aclarity of the beast is also a good one too(to cancel magic channeling)as well as some damage. Shapeshifting Inensity is a really good one too(ur p.def. passive in tiger) Feral Regen. makes ur meditating go by faster(seems really useful for me too) And Roar too is a good aggro grabber(although not a must rite away). Beast King's Insperation is a BIG must. Those i think are the MOST useful,as for humnoid skills..well like in my case ur gonna have to try to balance out the tiger/humanoid skills if you choose to go both ways early like i did. But if ur a pure Tiger tank then well stick to the middle and right side of the skill tree, but if ur a humnoid/Tiger like me...ur "TANK" skills come first... in other words anything that boost ur Hp, Def. or draws aggro. Then the spare points u have can go to humnoid skills to make ur lfe in the grind a little faster. IF anyone has anything to add of if i said something "nooby" please feel free to add it, THANKS. P.S. i wuld put acc. gems in my junk, as u have VERY poor acc. IF ur doing ur tank rite.. (bloodbath helps but the HP u lose at fisrt hurts)... PEACE OUT.

This is my oppinion as a 63 Barbarian soon to be 64.

First of All: FORGET ALL THE NOOBIE SKILLS (yup, leaving them at level one is the best choice, you were smarter than me in that case b:surrender)

The Skills I'm going to name next should be maxed by every Barbarian that calls himself such:

Beast King's Inspiration (gonna max it in a level b:victory, + 30 % more HP)
Feral Regeneration (how could I forget this one, it's a briliant skill to have, since it improves your regen rate)
Axe & Hammer Mastery (hella improvement in attack)
    True Form (beautiful)
Flesh Realm (spam to get aggro in bosses, you're a tank class, be one)
Sunder (regains HP, BEST SKILL FOR GRINDING)

These others are the personal choices, for Tiger mode
Alacraty of the Beast - Personal choice, since more damage is alright, but the ability to cancel and the extra chi gained from using it are the same no matter the level. I use it for canceling magic mobs and some noobie wizards b:chuckle
Devour - More for grinding and at later levels for high pdef reduction, there are Barbs who is this one as a strategy. I stopped since I got Sunder, because I need 2 sparks for Sunder.

and if you want to pick up your axes/hammers in an hostile manner, max these:
Mighty Swing (50 % stun each 6 secs)
    Shield Penetration (pdef reduction)
Bestial Onslaught (evasion reduction and the highest damage of the Barbs "regular" techniques)
Bloodbath - if you want to go PvPing, make sure yu max this one
Shapeshifting Intensity - There's a secret skill you get if you max this one b:pleased

other skills I find useful for tanking/kicking royal bottoms:

Poison Fang (note: works on humanoid as well!!) extra unexpected wood damage
Talk is Cheap (aka Roar) - saves my team in a pinch, usually use it after the mages' and archers' Bomb

as you can see, you can't have them all before 70, there's when we own the world :D

and yous should take +acc shards, since Barbs rule in DD once you reach 60/70.

yeah the above plan will work just fine for a tank barbarian, i followed more or less the same path.

one note though, at lvl 89 the only sage/demon skills you can get are stomp of the beast king, garotte and tigerform, so youll want those first attacks maxed sooner or later anyway if you use humanoid occasionally.

A note on alclarity. Level it till level 7 and then leave it at that. It times beautifully with casting times for most mobs/bosses.

Yea, level 7 alacrity is god. Cancel all the boss's spells/skills/AOE with your eyes closed.
