Thanks Dvorak, following you on twitter!0 -
same with me..i cant possibly compete with the drawings. not that i dislike them-they are fantastic! its just that i cant do that kind of thing, and thats apparently the kind of thing the judges are likeing best.
but big kudos to all the winners! wish i could do half as well!Yanjing - Heavens Tear wrote: »Well, that's the last time I'll be entering.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]

My only complaint is that besides the website url, some of the runner up entires have nothing to do with PW at all. Since it's a PW calendar contest, I think the entries should at least be related to PW.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]

Oh well I'm very happy to be in the runners up ! Thanks!0 -
Well, my personal favorite was Yanjing's. Even though it didn't win, I'll still be using it as my desktop wallpaper for the rest of the month.==/Senior QA Lead/==

You mean the bad render job?
Edit: Lemme clarify. By chum, do you mean the white junk around the bunny girl? It could just be bad rendering, though there's no way to tell whether it's rendered from the artist's original work or not.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]

you my dear have an isue .... why in the name of God do you cristicize all the winners/runnerups ... ooooo wait i think i know... you never won. yea thats it. well i'm sorry, i diddnt won either and i worked more than you have, and i diddnt even make it to runnerups, but thats just because i faided away from the ideea of ester, naked cicks in colored eggs its not realy the ideea of a perfect world ester, but i liked the ideea and i went with it. if i diddnt win or you diddnt win is because our short mind diddnt let us see the hole ideea of the "Ester colors and happynes" Nott the other players foult nor the GMs
so pls in the name of God, stop picking on everyone, your submisions were far from perfect, just take a good look at the winners...
P.S. ima probably be the next one she'll crytique... fk dont care b:victory[SIGPIC]http://i391.photobucket.com/albums/oo358/jack665/1-1.jpg[/SIGPIC]

After reviewing the winners and the runners up, some of them are in the wrong category. Some of the winners should have been runners up, and some of the runners up should have been winners. Who picks these things? And why can't we ( the actual players of perfect world) vote on them? That would be a good way to determine a winner. ? Anyways kudos to all who entered, I seriously lack drawing skills.
Special kudos to Jack_Nel who made my sig, thanks[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]0 -

My guess would be that it would really turn into a popularity contest and not one of true skill.
Although I can say the judges arent biased either we all have things we like including styles and theres always people who annoy you or who you like on the forums and ingame even as a GM, you may like to say that its unbiased but little things like that still can affect your judgment. Which is probably why they have so many judges, I think they said 15? to kinda balance this out some.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]

I don't know the rules of the contest.. but that person is correct.
The edges of the image appear to be badly cutout.. and if it was that
persons original work, there's no way that they'd intentionally ruin the
edges.. and judging by the quality of the coloring, the person would be
professional enough to avoid such an amature move. They'd easily be able
to fix the edges to appear more smooth. But it is obvious to me that the
image was cutout from an already rendered image. Leading me to suspect
that the person who entered this found the image online.. be it google image
search or deviantart.. and they just cut out the image and pasted it into an
image editing software, where they then added in the rest.
It is possible that they didn't even make ANYTHING in the image..
though that is not clear.. the only thing that IS clear to me is that, that is
not the persons original artwork.
EDIT:
Further investigation proved that it is indeed stolen work.
Here is the original as proof:
http://boybalasa.deviantart.com/art/Easter-Bunny-53036357
Seems that the person whos entry that was even went as far as to take out the
original artists watermarks.. which proves that they were actually trying to hide the
fact that they didn't make the art themselves.

Boy oh boy. To think they actually submitted stolen work. Why would someone do such a thing? And it's unbelievable that they made runners up with it. Bet they got a kick out of that for a while. GMs might have to check to make sure the work isn't stolen before picking winners and runner ups from now on. -.-[SIGPIC]http://pwi-forum.perfectworld.com/image.php?type=sigpic&userid=968287001[/SIGPIC]

Just to play devils advocate here, I dont know the player who submitted it and I dont know the person on deviant art.
A lot of players here have deviantart accounts and put their work on it. Just because that was on deviantart doesnt mean it still isnt the players artwork and/or it may be even be someone he knows, if it isnt his, who gave him permission to use it.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]

I highly doubt it's their actual artwork mainly because the cut out isn't done well at all. If it had been theirs they would have most likely spent more time cleaning up the edges instead of doing a rough cut. Based on their creativity they sure didn't do much to the rest of the calendar. =P If they did get permission they still used the artwork without giving credit, and even removed the watermark. Really if it isn't theirs it doesn't show much talent. So me being straightforward I don't think it's quite right to give them the honor of runner up.
Anyways guess it's up to the GMs to decide now that they've been presented with the original. ^.^[SIGPIC]http://pwi-forum.perfectworld.com/image.php?type=sigpic&userid=968287001[/SIGPIC]

Checking on every entry is going to be impractical though. In any case, it really makes me angry that this happened.yay0 -

Checking everyone's entry would be ridiculous. I mean just check those they plan on making winners or runner ups. =P[SIGPIC]http://pwi-forum.perfectworld.com/image.php?type=sigpic&userid=968287001[/SIGPIC]

But wouldn't it be easy to miss stolen work even that way? I'm asking because I honestly don't know; my Google-fu is weak.yay0 -
I just wanted to say thank you judges and PWI if I haven't already expressed my gratitude.0

You need some sort of image manipulation software (Photoshop, paint, etc.).
