Okay, consider this as a rant and if you don't like it, bug off.

I lurk around the forums here a lot more than I should and I post whenever necessary and I feel now is the time to bring up an issue that has been bothering me for awhile. I no longer wish to shut my trap about it and hold it back anymore because it's ridiculous.

I am really tired of seeing the super cocky people here posting **** posts that doesn't help one bit (see scenario below) but up their post count and show the world how much of an **** they are.

It's quite common to see a newbie or a long-time player that's new to the forums post innocent questions in the forums such as, "Soooo, is a Herc really worth all the coins?" or "Are wizards better than clerics?" or "What is the Monthly Race?" etcetc. Yeah, okay, it's bothersome that the same questions pop up every single day but jeez, RELAX. Not everyone is pro like you at using, let alone finding, the search button up at the top. Not everyone likes shuffling through 20+ pages of topics to find an answer, or browse through 100+ pages in a single thread.

But instead of having common courtesy and simple manners, people respond to these little questions by saying things like this:
"OMFG YOU NOOB LRN2 USE THE SEARCH BUTTON LOLOLOL"
"FIGURE IT OUT N00bz!"
"God I'm tired of these threads!!! Stop posting this stuff!!!!!"

You know what? You're just as bad for posting the same answer in every single thread that asks the same thing! Did you ever think of that? Did you also ever think of maybe...just MAYBE if you answered that one time someone might have actually found the answer before so they wouldn't have to make another thread about it?

b:scorn

Probably not.

But yeah, no doubt you'd probably never meet 99% of the people that you meet here in person...but think about it...the 1% that you know IRL (mainly directing at those that you play the game with)...would you treat them the way you treat others as if they're on the bottom of the food chain? If they asked you 'Hey, is flesh ream really bugged in PvP?' would you tell them, "OMFG, GO LRN2 USE FORUM SEARCH ON WEBSITE" or would you tell them simply, "It might be a bug, or it might be intentional, but in the future, there will be genies implemented to fight back the bleed effect!" Is it really that hard?

I hope some of you rethink the way you answer a newbie's post, or rather any post for that matter, in the future. Responding to them in a rash way is not very welcoming and no doubt if you were in their shoes, would like to be responded to harshly. As the common saying goes, "Treat others the way you want to be treated." You know who you are.

Oh, and another thing that bothers the heck out of me...all you people getting all antsy about people posting without their in-game name, faceless avatar portrait or with level one characters. So what?! Do you really have to know who they are in-game? For what purpose? To irritate and harass them in-game? Is it really necessary? Jeez.

That is all.

I agree with you when you say about manners, cordiality and respect. Helping people with "ridiculous" questions doesn't cause **** falling or breast whithering. Actually, it may also get yourself an friend, why not?

But I have to disagree with you in one point: it's annoying see same questions in many many many threads every day. People really need learning to use the search engine to avoid repeated posts. Many threads by many people about one same thing turns the board into a mess, and the forum itself should act as an research utility. Every question already made can help other people with the same doubt. If the board get filled with trash topics, however, the search engine use itself gets complicated.

As an "middle-term" solution, the scenario should be like this:
    - "Hey, i've heard that legendary weapons glow, it's true?"
    - "Yup. Your weapon glows when is legendary, have shards, when you give him a layer of auto wax, meehmeehmeeh, blahblahblah. Let me ask something: next time, use the search. It's left besides the "log off" link. This question is already answered and you could be found it. That will keep our boards free of repeated threads and it will be good for everyone. Thank you".

    Easy huh?

I personally do this, and I did it always in my former MMO forum. And I've decide to be mandatory polite do everyone to show people that yeah, you can help organizing the boards and be nice and the same time. To try to avoid people get the same as me, when I've posted an noob thread and someone said "Please someone sacrifice an goat, so the gods can teach this infidel how to post properly".

Well most of people dont use search button cuz u never find what u need.
If you write Herc for example u will get like 200+ threads with Herc in it.
So people open new posts in hope that some one will answer them or give them link to actual thread where is information that they need.
I think that forums need more admins who will give links to people who cant find what they looking or too lazy to check 200+ links in Search. b:victory

    Forum Search functions always suck.
Ok lemme see, Im going to search male venomancer. Theres only one topic that has the name Male Vecromancer. (yeah he spelt vecro not veno).
Its because the search looks for both words separately, and not the phrase. If you search google the top result will be your entire search phrase, and not just individual words. The forum also searches venomancer, and theres alot of posts with the word venomancer in it.

Ohh, okay..a rant thread, fun. :) I have always felt that I really dislike Zoe. You know, the veno that thinks she's "all that" and knows everything. I think she's from Heaven's Tear.

First of all, her forum signatures..."I have only begun to show my power" is what it was last I saw a post from her. Ok, so she's lvl 89 or 90 now, congratuLATIONS YOU KNOW HOW TO USE YOUR TRIPLE SPARK, GOOD JOB! And her sig before that (sounds like I'm a stalker, but I'm not, she just happens to post nonsense in threads I read) was something like "I know I can make some damage if I want to". WELL YES, 'cause you're really the one deciding how much damage you're gonna deal!
And oh my god...when she claims "pking in-game is like murdering someone irl", rofl. She's more stupid than she looks, srsly. I know LOOOTS of people agree.

Oh wow, there's just so much more but I can't think of anything right now.

I agree with you, although nomatter what some people are going to always be dicks, but im more concerned about spammers, the ones who make spam **** forums to annoy people, and those who spam on a good forum to cause inconvienience for others and annoy the **** out of people, they are a bigger concern i think

Regarding the reposting thing, yeah you should use the search function first. Legit questions I've got no problem helping with. Inflamatory posts regarding the same thing over and over....

The reason people want you to post with your main character displayed, or even the character of the class you are discussing is so that your knowledge base can be judged to give an appropriate response. Its not going to do much good to quote rbo\tw\tt\dt to a lev 6. Its tough to tell someone a spell sequence to use if we can't figure your spell levels out or what you have available. For the people reading the forum, it also gives a nice index of who is more likely to know what they are talking about, the lev 9x or the lev 14.
