For pet skills level 2, 3, 4 and 5; you need to be level 20, 40, 60 and 80 respectively.

    Pet Level_______Max Skill Level
    1.................................1
    20...............................2
    40...............................3
    60...............................4
    80...............................5

Please note that's the Pets level, not just yours.

    Enjoy.

Nifty. So the pets that have higher levels than this chart for a skill are the ones that are thought of being good? b:mischievous

A lot of pets will come with skills that are above what you are able to train. Herc and Phoenix are prime examples, both come with maxed skills and start at level 1. These are, of course, extreme examples since there are plenty of crappy pets with high level skills, but you get the idea.
