Place your estimate on the final number of pages the caption contest thread will have by monday cut off time

i estimate 540 pages...

and who is seriously gonig to read through them all?! the sheer number of captions that are going to be posted make me worried that the judging team won't be able to meticulously go through them all. After i posted mine, i read like 5 pages every 10 pages, and i didn't get to over page 100...b:surrender

    I really do agree it will be next to imposible to read them all. The problem with this event is that the image is simply too bizarre to make for anything other than childish silly humor, so whoever wins it will seem like just a random choice, even if the GMs do actually read all the posts and discuss the better options...

    As for an estimate, while smart players should already know this is something of a waste of a time, the contest is simple enough that it may atract people not usually fond of the forums, i'm gonna say around 400, the last 50 or so very likely the work of a dozen dedicated trolls doing multiple entries.

    I would say more than 540, as there are already almost 200pages and the first day even hasn't ended yet.

    If they really is going to read it all, then I think the best choice for them would be division of labour - each GM has X amount of pages where they have to pick out X amount of best comments. And then just sit all together and decide on the best one. Otherwise I would feel sorry for the GM who would have to go through all those silly comments. I bet the after 20pages none of them will sound funny anymore.

    Btw, is there a max of pages a thread can have?

    i suspect we may find out very soon...

    they could have made it so that only one user can have one post, but you can edit it to add more captions...or your only allowed to submit one entry (most logical)

    im really proud of my caption on page 161, i just don't think it will get the attention it deserves, most of them are garbage anyway, i think i read over 100 and about 3 were mildly entertaining.

    come end of contest day, i'd certainly be using a "sick day" if i had to be one of the judges who has to read em all. its going to be more like winning the lottery i think,,,

    GM- "damn over 1000 pages?!, ah **** it...page 862, 2nd post from the top wins it." Judges- "agree","aye", "sure" "huh what?! we're voting already?"....

    Went and looked yours up. It was good!
    At least it wasn't about drunk driving, "car crashing", peeing, peeping and "half". Those kind of comments just repeat over and over and over. If they really pick random comment and it is about one of those things I mentioned before, then at least I will enjoy all the flame war what will start :P

    Well... if they start now, then could actually manage to read them all :P

    I dunno. There may be thousands upon thousands of entries by the time the deadline comes, but from what I've seen they're mostly one liners.

    Those are pretty easy to read, and judge. Most not even funny at all.

    I think some people are posting just to bring up their post count. Spammeriffic, ya?

    yea if its a bathroom stall caption that wins, i will cry myself to sleep. i also don't like how ppl read others then change a few words trying to make it their own, i wrote mine before i read any so it would (hopefully) be unique. Alot of them have spellig mistaks and badly gramer..

    I know what you mean. I'm only entering one caption for this thing. I worked hard on it, so it would be unique. But then after I posted mine, minutes later someone else takes my basic concept and uses it for their own. -_-

    Mine is one page 190 and his is on 192, if you'd like to see.

    I'm not going to start anything with him, but it'd be nice if people could try to be unique as well.

    IMO they should have just had people edit their original posts to add in new captions (and disqualify entries not in the original). There probably wouldn't be as much clutter if new posts weren't continuously made.

    I didn't read any of them there was already 175 pages I just posted one. If I ended up doing something similar to someone elses sorry but I didn't bother to read that many.

    well I did post twice, once on page 195 and once on page 196... but I'm thinking if they start from the back and read forward it will be only 50 or 60 pages and same if they start from the front. So most may not be read.

    There are way more than I bet they thought they would get.

    unless of course they read them daily and weed out all but the ones they like from that day, and then judge it at the end of the contest that way.

    look at Keicad from page 193-195 he has 64 posts 20 of them seemd to come from those pages alone, nothing witty, just post spam, he should be disqualified. he even posts two in a row...i had to stop reading.
