I have to say this, having done survey research for my BA. Your results are going to be rather skewed and the validity of the data is not going to be there. Especially since the question are awkward in nature and have no flow to them. Having said that, I wish you would have given us a brief description of what you were going to do with this information (as is customary for any type of survey).

My current main is female

Because of the role I pictured her in. She's a support cleric, so I envisioned a guardian angel. My main on Sanc (which I haven't played since DW came online) is a male wizard, again because of his role. He's scrawny since he isn't strong in that respect, but he has a LOT of power magically.

People seem more willing to help at times, even if you don't ask for it. lol I play solo a lot, but I am always getting party invites thrown my way. Could also be because I'm a cleric more than the fact my avatar is female.
I haven't really seen any disadvantages, unless you count barbs or other male characters (obviously played by males) flirting with you as a disadvantage. Personally I find it hilarious and play along. XD

Yes. I am actually married to a man I met through a text-based online RPG, and we were playing our own genders. The relationship is over 7 years old now, and we've been married a year.

Yes. Sometimes it's hard to tell what's going on without the nuances of facial expression and vocal tone. Its very easy to lie and be lied to online as we all wear masks of varying degree here. But I don't automatically doubt everyone - I'm just cautious about doling out trust and take suspicious things with a grain (or shaker) of salt.

2. 1.5 hr on weekdays 0-10 on weekends

Mm, that is assuming that forums attract every personality type, which is a pretty big assumption. No matter what, you cannot extend the sample of forum users to "general players" because there are some people which use forums and don't play the game (sounds odd, but it does occur). In fact, samples from MMO forums may not even represent an MMO community. Assumptions make *******s out of would-be scientists.
This study does interest me, but not in the general interests of gender. I am more interested in the trend that girls may not play guy characters, while guys may have girl avatars, and the explanation for this. I do think that gender consequences are of interest, but a public survey on an internet forum is a completely wrong way to go about finding validity, regardless of how many data points you have.0 -
