Here is a video HowTo for those wanting to run Perfect World International in Linux. The video explains the steps necessary to get PWI installed and running from start to finish, and even shows off in-game footage. Hope it helps some Linux Gamers!

Great tutorial. Clear, concise tutorial that tells you everything you need to know. Now I don't have to help my roommates with this. ^_^
Awesome job.
PWI, can we sticky this in tech support please? It's a hundred times better than the other PWI on Linux tutorial.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]0 -
Sweet! Thanks, man! Now maybe I can get my cousin to play! b:victory0

Nice guide.
Seem that the last wine version corrected the artefact issue.
I would advise to shut down compiz and opengl screensaver will make Xorg crash so turn it off.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]0 -
Woot hurray for the first non-animal head to post on this forums!
I thank you for the times you have burned into finding this. May Linux users praise you and hopefully give you a virtual cookie.Position: Professional Forum Troll
Position Details: Be able to incite people to flames and perform miracles such as telling people what's right and what's wrong. Be able to dish out flames to other people so fire extinguishers are needed to put out the flames. Most of all, giving others a piece of reality.

Thanks for the great responses, and I'm really glad it's useful to some players. If you want more videos on Gaming in Linux, then check out my other videos in YouTube. http://www.youtube.com/user/Saieno86Zephyrx wrote:I thank you for the times you have burned into finding this. Actually I made the video, and many more on Linux and Gaming in Linux. I'm also the same person who made the Perfect World International Video Review a while back. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PYSONN7_9wARedSpeller - Sanctuary wrote: »I would advise to shut down compiz and opengl screensaver will make Xorg crash so turn it off.
I personally see no performance difference between leaving Compiz on and disabling it. I suppose it depends on the system, but I haven't had any problems leaving it on. I do agree and recommend it for linux gamers with lower end computers, but I've never had a Xorg crash.0 -
Thanks Ventash, your tutorial was very useful. The game installed and worked on linux quite effortlessly. Although I was facing some problems, such as: my genie, eagle wings, mobs and all NPCs were only appearing as black.
If anyone else is facing the same problem, here is a solution. It simply requires you to add 2 more strings to the 'wine registry' (using regedit, as explained by Ventash).
The solution was provided by WineHQ.org and here's the link
