Well, you probably got one from a level 30ish quest, and maybe just found another like me. But what do +1% exp actually DO? It doesn't increase your exp when you put it on, it doesn't give you 1% more exp per kill, so does anyone know what it DOES do?

It gives +1% Exp if your a pro

It gives -1% Exp if your a noob

Btw.. the Exp gain/loss for pro/noob is based on monster kills. Quest rewards are unaffected for noobs.

It gives +1% exp per mob kill, but the amount is so small it's almost impossible to notice a difference.

It gives +1% exp per kill or resource node rounded down. So if you have +1% exp and you mine a node worth 50 exp you will still get 50 exp. If you mine a node worth 100 exp you will get 101 exp. If you have +2% (from 2 +1% items for example) then the 50 exp node will be worth 51 exp and the 100 exp node will be worth 102 exp. It works the same for monster kills. It is always rounded down.

It still adds up even if you don't notice it.

Oh, I know I was just saying that's why a lot of people don't THINK it does anything. xD.

It adds 1 percent, so 100 XP becomes 101.

    Yes, extremely lame, I agree.

Now, a +100% xp necklace, on the other hand....b:sin

Yes, 1% is not much. But it can add-up. I have 6% xp bonus, and in the long run, at my level it help, with the sheer amount of mobs I must kill to grind.
    500 xp for mobs + 6% = 530 xp

Kill 1000 mobs and you get a 30000 xp bonus.

Or you can get equipment amounting to +6% damage and kill the extra 60 mobs in the same time. Trying to gather equipment amounting to +6% exp is hard and expensive. Extra damage is easier in comparison. Or even -6% channel speed, which comes in one, and at most 2 piece of armor.

    +exp is overrated.b:chuckle

+6% damage wont let you kill 60 extra mobs in the same time.

No idea now, but at Halloween it was quite easy and relatively cheap.

-6% channelling wont let you kill mobs that much faster. 1 second channeling time -6% channeling = 0.94 channeling time.

The difference is not really important until you're much higher level and doing things like zhens, or grinding parties.... When you're killing hundreds of the same monsters over and over, that extra few experience adds up into thousands of xp.

Guess I'll hang onto this equipment, then. Thanks everyone! =) Wish it wasn't ethereal, though XD I hear those don't give a huge difference.

What equipment adds to your damage? The only ones I know of are the rank 10 gear with +2% offense. +accuracy would, but AFAIK nobody has figured out exactly how accuracy affects % chance to hit.

I suppose +str or +mag will also add damage, but it would seem pretty hard to get 6% extra damage that way. My veno has ~2500 magic attack, and each +1 mag only gives me about +8 magic attack (0.32%). I have a valentine's pendant and headless horseman amulet which together cost me less than 1.5 mil and give +7% exp. To get a +7% bonus from +mag damage, I'd need +22 mag on two items, which would be ungodly expensive.

Bonuses on your weapon are irrelevant, since you can equip the same weapon with your +exp% gear.

And as BlancheNeige pointed out, all this would do is reduce your damage-dealing time by 6%. If half your time is spent finding stuff to kill or healing, then it only yields a 3% increase in exp gain rate. And the +22 mag I calculated above now needs to be +44 mag. The same problem applies to channeling (and reduced time between weapon swings). It only affects fight time, not non-fighting time. +6% exp OTOH is credited only when you kill a mob, so it rolls fight time and downtime into one.

Bottom line IMHO, +exp gear is great for easy grinds where you don't need maximized defensive gear.
