Why does plume shell suck so bad?

Warning, this is a bit of a vent:

I rarely ever use this skill if I can help it, because it drains my pm like crazy. Honestly, why would you give the archers that straight up absorbs the damage and recovers their mp (which, from what I've seen based on my bf's character, they hardly ever use). So then why give a cleric a skill that does absorb damage, but all so takes it out of our mp. Our only source of survival.

Tell me, is there ever a time when this skill would be actually useful and not just a pain in the **** and an all around irritation?

(by the way, if a gm reads this (to save posting another thread in the suggestion box) maybe consider giving the clerics a more fair version of plume shell (maybe more like winged shell))

Plume shell is mostly your life saver. You are not supposed to use it in grinding, use ironheart. If you need to fight a tough mob, cast lvl 10 ironheart and shoot it, your hp should regenerate fast enough.

Plume shell is used when a mob does 1k p.dmg and you need to fly away or run away, or tank it for a few seconds before a barb gets the aggro back. You know, cases of emergency like that. 1k dmg goes to 250dmg, so thats livable. It is absolutely invaluable in pvp. Since most battles are over within seconds, your mp is not supposed to survive, use pots.

Plume shell is for pvp/emergencies mostly and nothing else really.

Pvp, Emergencies and can be very useful with Aoe bosses.

    * I did not use this and thought it was "crappy" until I got it to level 10...because consuming 80% incoming damage = b:dirty

Additionally, with your build, it should not make a huge difference when it comes to your mp...in fact it hardly touches it.

Winged shell only absorbs enough for 1 skill. Plume shell lasts the entire 20 seconds. Plume shell is amazing, it is the backbone of all clerics in PvP.

With a MP charm on, I used it while grinding several mobs at a time so it's not a problem.

Without a charm, I only use it for emergencies when I need to escape.

    Lol, drama.b:laugh

In any case, later on, Winged Shell's absorption isn't nearly as potent as Plume Shell, in both amount absorbed and the way it works. Winged Shell only appear stronger at early levels.

*observation* Are all PvPers flamers, trolls, and all around jack asses or is it just the people on the forums, because if they all are then I never want to associate with them.

No,just most of the people (including you from what I can tell) are just drama hungry.Which gives people like me a reason to at least chuckle before leaving.

Use it over and over in TW so you have good resistance to magic and physical so you are alive to heal/rez your party members. In PvE it is not all that useful unless you are specifically grinding phys. att. mobs, or if you need to protect yourself from pulling mobs to you when you are making an escape as friends bail you out of the aggro.

If your mp runs out the dmg is taken by your hp like it normally should i think, I might be wrong though.

thats why u plan ahead and dont use plume shell at the last minute. If i see a physical threat then i throw it up before i start hitting....it has 20 seconds of life and that should be enough time to kill it or heal or run like hell
