Advice needed: Vit, HP, PDef?

So…..I’ve decided to make a Cleric and have a ‘play about’ with this profession for a while. As a former Monk from Guild Wars, I was starting to miss my support role.

It’s going well so far: I’ve reached my 30s pretty quick and I’m following the 9 Mag/1 Str method of advancement. I think you call this a ‘pure’ build or ‘pure magic’ build? I dunno. Either way, I’m killing pretty quick and therefore levelling quickly.

Yet this isn’t going to last forever. I know there’s going to come a time when I’ll get 1-shotted by enemies and no amount of Plume Shell is going to save me. You can only be a glass cannon for so long, right? Once my ‘pure magic’ build has served its purpose, I’ll be looking to gain more survivability while maintaining sufficient levels of healing and support.

So here’s my question(s) for you experienced Clerics out there: working on the basis that the cost of re-stat scrolls are not an issue here, at what level would you move away from this ‘pure magic’ build? What would you move towards: vit, HP shards or PDef shards? Would you, instead, use a combination of them?

Or maybe you’re a Cleric who’s gone pure magic all the way? How are you fairing? Is it something to consider?

Any help or advice is welcome here; I love the support roles in games and I want to create a really decent Cleric here that isn’t gimped and thus not the weak-link when helping out in TT runs/FBs/whatever.

    If you read the forums, youll see many saying that like in 7X -80 is a good idea to restat your self.

    Grab a restat scroll around 60-70th.

    Gah...let me add to my illuminating non-post.

    Full Mag can survive just fine until you run into the major phys AoE bosses. If you are involved in PK that's about the only other time I can think of you getting one shotted...at least in my experience.

    For a more balanced toon though...restat around 60-75th. You'll only need 1 50pt restat scroll ( maybe 5 more points into Vit on the next level ) for a total of 60. Easy to reverse if you hate it. If that's still too low for you I don't know what to tell you. 100 Vit would seriously cramp my style so I can't speak too it.

    Personally I did this at 76th level. At 78th with all my gear +2 or +3 refined I have 3446hp and 2887pDef when buffed ( Barb and BM ). This allows me to take on all the TT bosses just fine with Regen Aura. There is a difference in your damage and heals that takes a while to get used too.

    All my armor is pDef sharded.

    Mind you...I'll likely be re-stating back to full Mag around 90th because of the incredible equips available.

    You never get one shotted unless you fight p.dmg bosses. I am lvl 75 with 1840hp and I have 2600 p.def with only my own buffs. If you are carefull and keep some pots, you can survive just fine. I do TT and boss heals and I am all good. My heals though, are awesome. I have 371 magic and so I do tonnes of dmg and heals, accordingly.

    Once I reach 8 and get some new equip, I will put some HP shards and refine it to get to around 2.5k hp and make sure my p.def is over 2-2.5k. IF you got that at 80, you are good to go. With bm buff you get 3.5k p.def and 2.7-3.3l hp with barb buff. Dont go tanking bosses, BB for serious physical aoe mobs and you will be allright.

    Infact, I get about 400dmg from p.dmg mobs, but at these level hardly any mobs are even only p.dmg and the 2 odd shots that m.dmg mobs shoot at 200-300 dmg are less than one ironheart, so do not worry, it is all about the tactics. Now, for pvp you may want some HP, since 1.8k is not enough, I tell you :P

    @ Kasiel: You didn't mention the build you were progressing with; is it 9 Mag/1 Str over two levels? This your experience based upon a 'pure' build to date?

    @ Willfire: Thanks for your input. I'm going to procure a 50pt re-stat scroll and store it away for future use. Like you, I'll be aiming to go back to full magic once I'm able....lol, if I get that far!
