Best magic defense pet

What's the best magic pet except phoenix and herc?
Everybody uses a frog but on ecatomb I saw that an oddfoot had better magic defense.

    I have never owned a frog, so I can't give an opinion on how good they are. But the following pets work well too.

    Antelopes have fairly good mdef. Lowest tameable are lvl 30 Antelope Pups with the following stats:
    Life
    3724
    Physical Attack
    177 - 216
    Magic Attack
    248 - 303
    Physical Defense
    633
    Magic Defense
    Metal: 783
    Wood: 783
    Water: 1273
    Fire: 783
    Earth: 457

    Comparable to that, there is the rare Windwalking Piggy, tameable at lvl 30, with stats:
    Life
    3724
    Physical Attack
    177 - 216
    Magic Attack
    248 - 303
    Physical Defense
    457
    Magic Defense
    Metal: 783
    Wood: 783
    Water: 783
    Fire: 783
    Earth: 783

    Some also recommend the Guardian Wolf, tameable at lvl 45, with the following stats:
    Life
    7573
    Physical Attack
    282 - 344
    Magic Attack
    394 - 482
    Physical Defense
    956
    Magic Defense
    Metal: 1923
    Wood: 1183
    Water: 1183
    Fire: 690
    Earth: 1183

    Of the pets with Lv.90 stats available on ecatomb, the Antelope Pup has the second best M.Defence. Rankings:

    #1: Phoenix
    #2: Antelope Pup
    #3: Prickly Oddfoot Cub
    #4: Frogling
    #5: Guardian Wolf

    From what I recall, Carapests are pretty popular too (albeit hideous). I don't know their Lv.90 M.Def though, and thus can't include them in the ranking above.

    I'm currently making a spreadsheet (almost finished) to be able to compare and sort the pets.

    I've found that the 10 best Magic tanks at lvl 90 (considering HP and armor ONLY) are:
    1 - Shaodu Cub (lvl 20, rare)
    2 - Windwalking Piggy (lvl 30, rare)
    3 - Frogling (lvl 9, rare)
    4 - Astral Beetle (Hept-, Pent-, Quadr-) (lvl 2)
    5 - Rhinodrahe (Billabong, Boondock, Plainswalker) (lvl 7)
    6 - Carapest Terror (lvl 19)
    7 - Qingfu (Emerald, Jaden, Verdant) (lvl 1)
    8 - Guardian Wolf (lvl 45)
    9 - Oddfoot (Pup, Pup Lancer, Prickly Pup) (lvl 4)
    10 - Antelope Pup (lvl 30)

    I've used the following formula to compute a "Mdef score" :

    HP / ( 1 - "%damage reduction of Mdef" )

    with :

    %damage reduction of Mdef = Mdef / ( Mdef + 40 * Lvl )

    Lvl being the level of the pet and the mob who'se hitting it.

    This does not take into account the HP regen, which is more a little bonus rather than a real stat.

    EDIT : The Armored Bear (lvl 80, rare) is actually rank 0, I forgot it !
    Of course the Phoenix and The Hercule would be -2 and -1...

    personally i would suggest one of the oddfoot pups
    they are nice mdef and they are cute =)

    I love my diabolic jester, he's a level 30 version of the carapest terror. Though, if you do go with a carapest, I'd suggest getting roar, bash, or some other aggro skill for it because I have a habit of stealing the aggro from him from time to time.

    Shaodu cubs should be one of the best alternatives to a rock (if you dont have a legendary pet). Pure magic tanks such as the carapest terror and the frog are not as great because they generally have lower phy. defence (and sometimes less hp). This is bad because most bosses/mobs use physical attacks at close combat and rarely using magic attacks. thus, making pure magic tanks pretty worthless. Therefore, I would recommend a shaodu cub, one of the best all-around pets.
