pvp or pvm server ?

hi,
i'm downloading this game now and i've been reading about it for 1-2 hours and most of my questions have been answered.

however i'm unsure about whether to enter a pvp or pvm server, i'm thinking the pvm server will be dull in the long run but pvp may be annoying in the short run or even in the long run.
i'm all for pvp'ing even if i probably suck at it but being chased by players double my level isnt something i would want at every quest i try/whatever i do solo. (bad experience here from past games like wow, being corpse-camped oh what fun :) )
so basically how can you make friends if they [all want to] pk you instead of saying hi let's party up.

what's it like on the pvp server(s?) ?

    You can go into PK mode also on pve servers after lvl30. So if you want to calmy do quests and PK when you want to, then go for pve and go PK when you feel like it. True, PK activity isn't that high there as in pvp servers.

    As for pvp servers... Can't give clear answer, sorry.

    Go to a PvP server, the action is better and you can kick the butts out of stupid people that thinks they can take your spawn.

    In PvE, all your gonna do is QQ about how lame they are and let them KS you.

    So if your too carebear to lift a finger against a person who's shoveling a huge cake up your ****, then go PvE

    If your man enough to own that idiot who thinks he controls your spawn, go PvP !!

    How to make friends:

    1. Say something nice
    2. Help them out
    3. Ask to be friends
    4. After friendship is obtained, ask them to help you Pk some idiots
    5. Sucessful Pk, friendship+

    *Note, rule 4 and 5 only apply to non-carebear servers.

    I have played PW on a pvp server before (on a different region) and it gets pretty annoying in the long run to be pk'd while grinding (and you got like 20% hp left), or stunned while you're digging a mine (!!!!). I did love to pk when it was needed, but some people just don't have any limits. Got sick of PW pvp servers when i saw players lv8x pking players lv3x, plus what ive mentioned above.

    Remember that you can always switch to pk mode on pve servers just by clicking a button. Meaning you pk when YOU want to not when others feel like backstabbing you. Also note that removing the pk shield will require you to be in pk mode for 12h.

    You also can forget ever participating in any event on a pvp server. You will just get spam pked over and over and over.

    Well, I'm sorry that you meet failed lv 8x PvPer that only decide to kill noobs like you as it is their decision to waste their life killing noobs.

    I can't force them not to Pk you, but you probably can get some nice intelligent ppl and probably own them back. Since those lv 8x fail at PvP, even lv 7x will probably own those lv 8x because like I said, those people fail at PvP.

    as for you mr. zyph, when a person asks a serious question that will define his gaming experience here and you in turn start to inflict negative comments on an entire group of people, don't expect any sympathy. The so called "flaming" of your character as a person is probably not very far from the truth. So if you have nothing constructive to say to the OP and want to continue disrespecting an entire community because they don't share the same childish and aggorant views as you do...then yes, go play in traffic.

    AS FOR THE OP

    PvE Servers-for those who really want to take in the aspect of the game. Sure you can experience this in PvP but the PvE servers are gear more towards/and focuses on the game play. PK mode IS available in these servers so you can go PvP with those who are also in PK mode. This option is what gives the PvE players a more well rounded experience

    PvP Servers- zyph-whateverhisnameis is there. End Comment.

    Yes, it's immature and childish, but my facts are very real as there are constantly real players who deem PvE server's KS ways are extremely frustrating for them. It is a REAL THING. Sure my manner isn't much like a lawyer, but the facts are the same as it.

    Anyhow, that is the major choice you have to make is to let someone KS you or not. If you can not become frustrated when it is almost impossible for you to level and get loot to improve your character, and you can bare with it, go PvE. But as for me, PvP is the way to go as it allows unfairness to be punished. The term "carebear" is often used to incite anger, but it also speaks truth.

    PVP server isnt as bad as people think its actually carebearish to a certain point as long as your not in a tw/pk guild. If you log into lost city you'll notice there is a giant butt load of white name players and bearly any red names. There are the ocasional players that like to **** off others, your random pker, and people who think they own a grind spot but its not too bad. If you play for more then a couple months you will experience one of the previous said things a couple times. Events are free for alls and you should remember that, also most events to participate(and get the good stuff) you must be lvl 30+ so that means your fair game (Valentine event, Defending arch north and south, Oracles, etc.) PVP is fairly nice and you learn quickly that if your gonna pk you need to have a group of friends or a click to be able to fight off your oponents cause honestly your dumb if you wanna just kill a **** load of people and not expect them to hunt you down if they know your red,alone, and where you grind/quest. KOS is what it means if a guild isnt seriously upholding it then they arent a serious guild when it comes to defending guildies or destroying the enemy in pk. If you join a tw/pk guild then just know what your getting into cause people will kos you just for the title. Make friends, dont get used, be smart.

    i believe i said this before but w/e.

    Stereotypes (which are untrue) that pve ppl have on pvp ppl-

    Everyone will pk u, u will always be pked by someone 2,3 or even 4x ur lvl (yes lvl 120 will pk u b:chuckle). Noone will ever help if u get pked, instead they will just say "it's a pk server."

    everyone is a carebear. No one pvps on on pve server. ppl ks u all day. no true skill required to play on the pve server. On pve, once u get to endgame u will be horribly bored and nothing u can do but kill more mobs.

    honestly it all depends on which u prefer, yes there is a high chance u will be killed on a pvp server when u do not want to. But that motivates some ppl to get stronger to kick that person's A$$. Others just give up go pve. Again depends on ur skill.

    There is also a high chance that u will become unbearably bored on the pve server. If u look at the lvl rankings on pvp vs pve, u can see that the ppl on pvp server are significantly higher, because they have motivation and it is full of drama to keep u entertained/interested. Looking at the separate threads in the lost city, heaven's tear, harshlands, sanctuary, and dreamweaver sections can kind of give u an idea of the amount of drama/interest that happens.

    Thats a good question. Pvp is awesome but it should be regulated a little better in this particular game. Some players "just a few" like to bully other midlevel players, 30 and up.
    I'm trying to petition to the GMs now, so that they can come up with a better system of Pvp. Pvp is a double edged sword that could be exiting or pointless. we will see.
