I know this has probably been talked about a lot but I just need to throw in my 2 cents on it as well.
Firstly, Hello to everyone on Heaven's Tear. I tend to be a rather quiet person and may seem a little strange but I am honestly a very nice lady who enjoys helping others when and how I can. I chose to be a Cleric so I could help people with their struggles against the Evil Wraith and save them from the terrors of battle and while we all struggle against a common foe and suffer similar falls I just want to let it be known that even the most helpful can feel jaded at times.
I have a lot of skills I need to upgrade and very little spirit to do it with so chosing to upgrade those skills which benefit others is primarily done to help my Brother AzurenBane who stands bravely in the face of danger and kills our enemies while I safegaurd his life. I also upgrade them because I enjoy helping others...BUT...Just because I have them does not mean I am entitled to use them for your benefit and there are some notable ways to make me feel cold to you.
The quickest way to make me not want to help you at all is to KS me. Honestly, it is hard enough to kill things as it is and I have to use my Mana to fight off these monsters so if you steal away my efforts do not expect me to give you the gift of my mana in any other way because you already benefited from it when you killed that monster I used it on. KS me and I will not Buff you, Heal you, or Revive you now or in the future unless you sincerely appologize. If I KS you I will help you out to make up for it on the other hand. If you NEED to kill something I am killing ask for a Team Invite. I am very willing to help people out so if you want my assistance by all means ask for it but do not rudely spite me.
The other major way to turn me off is to demand things of me or insult me. You are in no position to "Demand" my assistance. I do not need you to be overly sugary but asking for help and demanding it are two very different things. Insulting me and then asking for help is going to get you left out in the cold so just do not do it if you want my aid now or later. It does help if you thank someone after they help you out too but so long as you are not mean about it after I help you (acting like you used me or something) then I am fine but people who appreciate my help make me feel more inclined to help them again later ; )
The only other thing I wanted to say is please do not send me random Faction Invites...I have a Faction in mind and will join when they upgrade likely. If you want me to join your Faction then at least have the decency to talk to me and tell me why and what you are about. Random invites come off as desperate acts that are cold and impersonal. It is like you are saying "We desperately NEED a Cleric and we do not care who you are at all we just want your Skills now!"...If that is your attitude then I do not really want to be in your Faction.
Now then, let's get back to the fight, the world is counting on us!

girl, i totally agree with you! good manners and sportsmanship are something unknown to far too many players, to the detriment of gameplay for all. there are too many rude teenagers on the game, who have grown up on games based on killing and stealing as the goals of winning, and they believe this to be how to get ahead in this. i hope that one day the GMs will again enforce the level of control of this that was present when this version of PW was first opned here...it would make such problems almost disappear.

It sounds like you've formed expectations of people simply because you consider yourself helpful or useful. . . .
The reality is that clerics are utilities. They are normal characters in normal situations and are replaceable characters in necessary situations. Here's a tip, cleric or barbarian is not the class for you if you consider yourself altruistic, and define yourself--gratify yourself--by helping other players.
This is because you will feel like people do not hold you in high enough value and you will constantly annoy your friends by going on rants. The role of a cleric is not to help other people directly, but always to immediately help themselves through helping others. Esteem has nothing to do with it. This is not different from any other MMO.
As for your rant, you can take any other class and put it in place of yourself and it would be just as true.0 -

Cleric's job is to heal and keep people alive.
If you cannot keep ppl alive, you will fail as a cleric.
Normally I don't care what skills the cleric upgrades as long as he/she keeps me up and running. If I die however, prepare for criticism.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]

Strange... Clerics are the highest damage dealers in the game, tie with Wizards. How do they ks people who kills mobs in 3-4 shots? It's usually the barbs complaining of ks.
As for demanding res, you can just ignore them. They can't make you do it.b:pleased
Faction invites affect everyone, not just Clerics. Into the 30s, people will invite you if you don't have a "parking" faction, it's a given.0 -

Actually... it is not a job of a Cleric to heal people. It is the job of people to not totally rely on Clerics to do all the healings. Ever heard of pots and damage reduction charms?
Seriously, we can do half way for everyone. But you better also come half way by at least using pots and maybe even a charm or so. We aren't your heal slaves, hell I rolled a Cleric because most MMOs have the worst healers in the game (so I figure, forget about finding a good healer, be one yourself!). Not all of us want to help you (yea.. that's me), but that is because the majority's attitude really sucks and the next person that ask me for help just makes me even more angry.
So anyhow, next time you ask for a Heal, it better come with the gift of 100 mana pots (so... expensive to use pots in this game!).
And please don't treat us as heal slaves. But seriously, don't bow down to us like gods of holyness or something lame as that. We are players like you that deserve to be treated with respect. So take that into considering instead of thinking we are a source of infinte hp pots and revival scrolls.Position: Professional Forum Troll
Position Details: Be able to incite people to flames and perform miracles such as telling people what's right and what's wrong. Be able to dish out flames to other people so fire extinguishers are needed to put out the flames. Most of all, giving others a piece of reality.

@ OP - Now its good to be polite to anyone Cleric or not, if people arent polite dont help them it should bring them around in the long run, making posts that QQ about people and attempt to put ones self up on a pedestal dont really achieve much but make you look pompous.0 -
FoxRunning I will certainly keep you in mind. I wish I could be more useful to a Veno though...But I cannot really help your Pet who is your main tanker. At least I can help out your Magic Damage though or if things go badly.
As for many of the others, oh wow, I did not know this was such an effective way of having you "remove all doubt" as it were. If I knew it was so easy to find the trolls hidden among the crowd I would have posted long ago. Thank you for revealing yourselves so that I do not have to waste my time and energy for your sake and please any more who wish to voulenteer themselves in such a fashion feel free. Archer have the highest dd on mobs in general. A 92 wiz with +5 89 mold weap failed multiple times to ks a 89 arch with +3 80 gold bow. Wiz might have the highest single atk, but when it comes to ks they just simply can't match up to an arch of similar level.0 -

Its not the crit %. An arch can regular without crit and ks an wiz of same level. While wiz does more dmg per attack, it just takes too long to cast.0 -

Here, here! To me a cleric is a blessing that I'd really rather have at my side BUT I do not expect said cleric to be my sole means of healing. I have a charm and buy pots and freely use them even with a cleric in the squad. For me going out without the necessary items to stay alive is like leaving town without arrows. As for buffs, since mine sux, I thank every cleric that bestows them on me knowing it is out of the goodness of their heart that they do so."Lead me, follow me but get out of my way!"0
