There is NO legitimate reason to run multiple clients on a single computer.

    None nada zip zilch.

    Which is what he said.

Hardware ID can be simply a query of Processor ID, Motherboard ID and Ethernet Card ID. Not generally worth the effort to mess with as you said.

    ~S

It is called "virtual machine" for a reason. It has virtual hardware with its own virtual IDs. Otherwise it will be not possible to move a virtual machine from one host to another without reconfiguring it every time that happens.

Yes, there is. I want to run my cat shop on the same computer to save the planet from the green house effect... (do you know how much greenhouse gas is emitted to the atmosphere due to 1000 cat shops running on a separate computer?) b:shocked

Saving money on electricity seems to be a pretty good reason to me, no matter how small the amount saved may be.

Neither of those are legitimate reasons to break the ToS

Never once mentioned the ToS. You said there's no legitimate reason behind wanting to run two clients on the same computer. I gave one :p

Oh please, I shouldn't have to mention the ToS since it should be commonsense that if a GM has stated it is bannable/actionable that there are no legitimate reasons to do so.

They're stating legitimate reasons for using two clients. Yes that's against the ToS, but they're arguing why someone would want to run two clients for something other than botting, hacking, or the like.

If you ask me, that rule in the ToS is just an unfortunate side effect. Since they can't distinguish someone with an edited client that can run more than once with someone who ran two copies of PW by switching users, they just decide to ban both (or at least, claim to do so).

Regardless, there ARE ways to run more than one client WITHOUT editing the client unlike the GM stated, I just wouldn't recommend doing it in case they really do ban you for it.

That is true that it is still against the ToS, but again,we're stating the possible, legitimate reasons behind wanting to run multiple clients which you claimed don't exist :p

It may be a pain in the **** but there is a very legitimate reason for the game to block this behavior. Yes, would be nice to be able to have a catshop running during game play. Personally I have never had difficulty selling my dq/wares at night. But it seams likely that if players were allowed to multi-client the attempts to abuse the system would sky rocket. It's a great game. Don't abuse it.

I can't see why people think that using multi-clients = abuse. If each client runs on different computer it is perfectly legal to do so. If there are people that want to and know how to abuse the game they already can do it by running two/more clients on two/more computers.

People drive cars to get around. A few people drive cars to traffic drugs. Therefore all cars should be illegal.b:victory

It is true, however, that multiclienting makes abuse easier. Suppose someone has a botting program that can make X amount of gold per hour; so if the said person has 3 computers, and suppose s/he can run 3 PWI on the same computer, s/he could make 9X gold per hour compared to 3X. The difference becomes exponentially large, when more computers are thrown in. So for everyday users, who run two copies on two computers, or one, no it doesn't matter. But for a coin-botting company that ebays coins or something, it does make a huge difference; I suspect they have this rule set up to prevent such from happening.

Lol. Yeah I suppose by PWI logic, that would happen.
