The following are my personal opinions.
You will want something with an nvidia or ATI chipset for gaming, with 128MB-256MB video RAM or higher.
You do NOT want to get a netbook, unless it is for university only.
Try to get the best system that you can for your budget.
If you get one with Vista, make sure you have 2-4GBs of RAM in it.
Here are some links to places where you can buy laptops online:

You will need something with dedicated graphics. If you get one with nVidia, make sure the second digit in its name is at least 6 (exampie 9600M). I'm not sure how ATI numbers things, but for nVidia, anything less than an *600 will suck.
Also since just about every laptop has Vista now, make sure it can run DirectX 10.

Any GeForce or Radeon higher than 69th place should be good.
*Quadro and FireGL are not gaming cards.
Also just a tip, laptops with semi-decent graphical abilities are more expensive than a desktop with great graphical abilities. And running a game will drain the battery really quickly as well as make the laptop heat up. For me, I'd prefer a cheap laptop for office/web and a mid-priced desktop for gaming.0 -
