I am new to the game and I am downloading it as I type this. Tell me what it was like lvling your archers. I would like to know before I choose this class.

It is a easy class to level if used correct skills.
Also with archer either be prepared to buy lots of MP pots or MP charms.

archer is hard to lvl from lvl16-20, after that it's really easy (if you use your skills right)

you don't need to buy mp pot nor charms. you can just go to a high lvl cleric and ask for their buffs. with the mp regen buff you get, you will not need to use any pots or charms.

As you have the chance to get your first moldslingshot (sinister shooter, later on wind and clouds) take it, they're the best for grinding. Simply frost arrow and most mobs won't get to hit you if you have enough atk power through dex.
I, myself, wasn't grinding until lvl 40 (just doing quests).

yeah it is fairly easy to level an archer, but now i am getting kind of bored with doing the same things over and over, and i might make a character of a different class.

this is what grinding has been like for me since around lvl 50 or so..

click mob > click macro(frost/attack/attack/knockback/attack~) > get drops > repeat... very rarely getting hit and using mana pots every once in a while. about as easy and fast as it gets

Only the first few lvls is anoying when u dont have frost arrow or knockback and after that its a breeze. Very easy to lvl since u kill quickly, dont use mana much (unless u skill spam), and have low cost compared to others mid to endgame (only thing that should really cost u is arrows, shots, bolts depending on weapon u use and u should only be getting the cheapest one availiable).

You are one of the many archer skill-spammers out there. Its not worth it. I use 2 skills per mob and I rarely use mp pots (although one skill is not up to date). They are: (lvl 5) Frost arrow and [2-3 normal shots] (lvl 1) Knockback [normal shot until dead]. It saddens me to see those skill-spammers not knowing what they are doing. Even at my lvl I still see them. b:shocked

I think you are not playing as efficiently as you could. I have never bought an MP or HP potion (I have bought instant potions for emergency purposes).

The combo to use is Frost Arrow -> Normal -> Normal -> Knockback -> Normal afterwards. For harder monsters, add a Winged Shell or Stunning Arrow after the Knockback. You can see Annor's guide for more details. It's a sticky on this forum.

If you still have issues with mana consumption, I suggest crafting the level 2 MP Recovery items.

All your advises with frost arrow -> normal->normal->knockback-> normal only work if you're an archer with much dex (full dex or nearly full dex) OR with a slingshot if you're hybrid.

That's not true. I'm a hybrid build, and I was using bows until level 60, at which point I used the Swiftwind crossbow.

At 70-71, I used a slingshot, but now I'm using a bow again.

its not all that simple. grinding mobs that you've chosen (torgirns, pterosaurs, foxwings, nightstalkers, etc) is pretty much using the same macro again and again, but some mobs that quests make you kill are a lot more complicated. you can't do frost hit hit knockback in the later lvls when every mob and its mother aggros every time you hit one of them (cough mermaids). in those cases prepare to pack some hp pots or squad with some friends.

This is true; you have to be selective of who you attack and all. Try to find those that are alone, and always watch your back.

I was merely addressing the point that someone stated, in which you need to buy many MP potions. *That* is dependent on your game play style. I have never bought a single HP / MP potion. I have never used an MP charm, and only used a bronze HP charm once. I give away MP potions to clerics all the time, whenever they resurrect me or give me buffs. I recently gave a stack of 100 MP potions to my guildmate because I needed inventory space.

This isn't bragging, as far as I know, most other archers have the same experience. There is no need to ever buy potions. If anything, you'd want to manufacture apothecary items.

In my first 60 levels I burned mana like crazy. My normal shots didn't deal the damage needed to kill before the monster gave a nice whack dealing a good chunk of damage. This is including the frost and knockback skills giving me extra shots. I was a 4:1 DEX:STR built archer.

Once I reached 60 and used my first (TT/HH)60 Crossbow my mana-problems were gone forever.

But to answer the original posters question:

Levelling 61+ is really, really, boring!

If you zhen, you dont do much besides stare at the screen for a good hour while your MP charm or $4 investment (less if you bought the charm pack) drains away. Although you do gain experience points quicker - zhenning quickly becomes costly for archers later on (9x for example.)

It gets slow, rediculously slow, once you hit your 6x's. Now if you think thats bad, just wait till you hit 7x, 8x. Now if you had the drive to get through your 8x's the 9x's are here to punish you! You can spend hours for a mere 1-3% (sometimes it can be even less)

If you have the drive to repeatedly tap and click the same buttons for hours on end - you're in great shape.

The Frost Arrow/normal/normal/normal combo is booooring.

Once you get to a level where mobs drop items worth about 2k then use Focus Powder and spam the hell out of those mobs. Just two drops will pay for the powder and after that you can kill many mobs quickly by spamming your skills. After those first two drops you get to sell all the loot (including potions...don't use potions).

I find it best not to have a MP charm activated while using Focus Powder.

If you want to make colours, explosions, lightning balls and electric eagles then use Focus Fowder. Its fun, you kill quickly and you get a good profit.

    It's good sheet man.

lol why is that? the higher lvl the harder it is to lvl. commom sense zhenning becomes more important the more you lvl since you get like 4 quests per lvl starting at lvl 70 and they give out at most 50k when you need like 7/10 mil exp and even though your stating your "belief" you certainatly have no right to say something like that when you are only lvl 48 b:scorn you dont know whats it like i know im only lvl 52 but i just asked the other day some questions on exp and lvling when i was getting help to do my fb 51 with a full team of lvl 80+ all diferent classes barb, BM, cleric, archer, wizard, and a venom. reallly man i feel anger at low lvls mocking (yes what you said is mocking) higher lvls when they dobnt know whats it like at all........b:irritatedb:irritatedb

    Oh, come on!

I have not died since... er... yesterday.

But I died only half a dozen times, yesterday! Or maybe 10, tops... (And I only lost 10..15k exps dying -- and this seems like nothing, especially when I think of exps I have "not gained" yesterday when I was waiting for specialized squads and so on.)

Or... I believe you were right.
