A quick question about soulgems

I'm new to this game, this being my first week of playing it, and I'm trying to figure out how to use these soulgems. I know I have to go to a tailor or blacksmith to imbue them into weapons and armor, right? But, when I try to do that, I'm not quite sure how to... I drag the soulgem I want to use to the proper place in the window that pops up, but then there's a little square for what armor I want to use, but when I try to drag the armor over to it, it won't work. It says there's a socket, but I don't understand why it won't let me do anything. I'm assuming I'm doing something wrong, care to help me out please? ^^;

    If you're wearing the armor/weapon, put it into your inventory first, then drag it to the window b:victory

    Actually, if you have been wise enough not to waste money sharding gear before level 40, calling you dumb would be, well, dumb.

    i need to know how to get sockets because i want to make my weapons stronger im lvl 9 plz help thx

    appearence of sockets:
    1 only by random chance in crafting new gear
    2 you can add sockets by using CASH shop item (socket stone) but be aware it requires insane amount of stones to add 1 socket. Example to add 1 socket to Ancient Arbor of lvl60 Twilight Temple casters weapons requires 80! stones. Beware better weapons higher number of stones required as well cost increases with each socket added that way. Have fun b:victory

    seeing you are only lvl 9, you shouldn't be thinking about sharding anything for about 40 lvls. this is because, before lvl50, you'll just lvl too quickly for the cost of sharding to be worth it. before you know it, you'll need to buy the next set of equipments
