The only way coins can be taken out of the game with this event is if people are buying the event pack directly from the NPC at 100.000 coins each.

    400.000.000 / 100.000 = 4.000

Hard to beleive that so many people actually bought 4.000 packs at 100.000 coins each while there are many cat shop around the NPCs selling guardian angels for less than 50.000 coins each.

Its amazing how this same tired argument comes up on the forums...either as an outright post or where one degenerates into the "CS buyers don't play fair" argument.

Maybe this happens because people who tend to have Common Sense will never understand the ones ruled by Stupidity, and vice-versa.

Why exactly do the leeches* complain? Really...what do they base it on? You don't see CS buyer's coming to the forum and whining that a non cash shop user just bought a cash shop item for 'imaginary' in-game money. Its comical.

How can what someone else does in-game ruin your experience? CHOOSE to enjoy the game the way you want to play it. Frankly, to allow Jon-Bob's quick leveling up bother you, regardless of how he/she does it, is childish. They leveled up fast...so fracking what...you can still play the way YOU want, regardless. YOU can still do each quest the way YOU want, regardless. No matter how fast a player levels their character, it will NEVER take away your ability to fight a boss...do a FB, or anything else in-game.

People, Jon-Bob playing the way he/she wants DOES NOT affect you! In fact, what someone else does is none of your fracking business anyway. LOL

    ****

    * I'm not referring to everyone who chooses to play the game for free. After all, most of the free players probably appreciate being able to do so. They just get a bad rap from those ignorant, yet, vocal ones.

If you look you will see that a small % of the players actually come to the forum.

PvP people hate things that let others level faster then they can. They cannot be at the top that way.

I do believe that 400million have been drained, just wondering which servers had the largest piece of that pie.

    not all of the coin would come specifically from spending 100k at jolly old jones;

i see quite a few people buying 3 gold from the auction house and in return, buy 30~ dolls. they then either open a cat shop and sell said dolls, or turn them in themselves.

now, 100k to jones is probably where most of the coin drainage came from. but, on the other end, think of the amount of people buying gold from the auction house with real coin:

there's a price to pay for each gold you buy, and for every gold you sell, there's another price. coin is also lost here, but i don't know if xarfox factored that in.

The above figure was from Jolly Old Jones exclusively, not a combination of all of the money sinks existing in-game.

Xarfox isn't given to making up numbers. if he says that is whats been pulled out from Jolly Old Jones, you can bet he is accurate with his numbers.

100k for jones.. or 130+k for gold.. because people have been buyin G like crazy so that they can get beautiful shards for 30 cents rather than paying the couple hundred K they would normally pay for them.. I know that the price of gold on sanctuary has gone up 20-30k since before the patch.. to the point now where in order to even break even with pet packs, you have to sell force/feathers at like 2900 (2857 to be exact) (that's also averaging only 23.333 per pack over 66 packs).. it cost 4.4M to get the 33G to get those packs.. and that's also not including the fee..

    4400000/1540 = 2857.. 1540/66 = 23 1/3..

We could all learn a lot from crayons, some are sharp, some are pretty, some are dull, some have weird names (like chartreuse), and all are different colors....BUT they ALL exist very nicely in the same box!

That's because all the cheaper gold sold out. At that point if people just put buy orders in for less then it might start dropping again.

Now then. Do try to give me one, just one good and valid reason I should respect humanity, that I can't shred to ribbons. If your able to accomplish that. Then I will chill. But if you can't... You can bet I won't.
    In case you're serious:

Altruism (doing things not in your best interest for the betterment of the group) is common in nearly all human and animal societies. Whether you believe it's evolved or instilled by divinity, the fact is that it exists and persists for a reason - it is advantageous in certain situations.

Mathematically speaking, there are certain situations (prisoner's dilemma, tragedy of the commons, etc) where each individual acting in their own best interest arrives at a worse or worst possible outcome. In these cases, altruistic behavior (self-sacrifice) results in a better outcome.

The mistake I frequently see both conservatives and liberals make is believing that altruism is always advantageous (the socialist liberal view) or is never advantageous (the capitalist conservative view). The reality is that it's sometimes advantageous, sometimes not; and the important thing is to learn to identify situations when it is or isn't advantageous.

On this particular topic I completely agree with you. The folks complaining that people paying real money are getting an advantage need a good whack from the reality stick. They're assuming that the game as it exists now could exist if it were entirely free (i.e. no cash shop). I've played on free game servers where money was not a factor - they were run completely on donations and volunteer work. They were also horribly buggy, went down frequently, suffered from database crashes and resets, and tended to disappear due to volunteer maintainers decided they no longer wanted to do it. The folks paying for this game give those of you playing for free quality, and reliability (relatively speaking), and stability. Take away the reasons for those folks to pay for the game and your free game will become rather ghetto.

i think this whole post is non sense i like the event, but i'm not taking advantage of it b/c i rather be slicing n dicing monsters over waiting in line. plus i'd rather earn my lvls but at the same time i'm not gonna dis the people who wanna buy there lvls. if the have the cash and thats what they wanna do let them. its no big deal the whole point of playing any mmorpg is playing the way u wanna play not worrying about how others spend there time b/c its a waste of time when u urself could be having fun

Players can make money by buying gold with coins and selling it on a later period, as gold prices are going up, players can cash in more coins for it.

It's nearly the same as the real life market/economy :3

It's also worth mentioning that if it weren't for people buying gold with real money, those of you playing for free could never buy anything from the cash shop. Every gold that's spent in the game had to start as a dollar paid to PWI. So without the people paying RL money, there's no gold. And without gold you could never buy anything from the cash shop.

Gold prices are going up because the "I don't want to/can't spend RL money on this game" people wanting to buy cash shop items (specifically the charm packs and guardian angels) are overwhelming the "I don't mind spending RL money on this game" people. If you want the gold prices to come back down, you want more people who spend RL money to play this game, not fewer.

*cough* you guys havn't noticed something intersting.

because of the exploit much coins remained in the game that shouldn't be there. prices increased and stuff.
now this event comes and many many people buy ga's like hell. some buy them with $, some buy gold with coins in the ah and get the ga's this way.
they go to jolly dude old bone, ga disapears=> coins get out of the game.
everything gets deflated, prices will go down in the long run.
and i'm speaking of a hughe amount of coins. some guy started with 500k coins and managed to buy 200 ga's with the profit he made from the goodis. let's say 40k each angel =>8 mil coins got deleted by only one person. i only made it to 100 ga's. we both are non cash gamers. (i had a chat with someone who spent about 400 ga's so far) many people do this and surely billions of coins are gone now.
the whole thing has money related 2 effects.
    1. the damaged economy gets (hopefully) fixed
    2. the company gives people a reason to spend their cash to make profit

    clever

    everybody is happy

ok, that people lvl their low chars 15 or 20 lvls a day on the new servers ...uh...this event should have taken place before the new servers opend.
perhaps the company didn't expect that people **** the grandpa jolly like they did. or just havn't thought about this effect, had a meeting and talked like " hey guys what else should we put in...oracles yeah lool oracles....can't hurty anyone...the people will have some few extra exps"

ah one more thing about coin sink...fast done lvls without grinding don't produce coins. but get coins out of the game because skills can be expensive.

hi, this theory is flawed and u guys still don't know the seriousness of this event.

the money used to buy gold to buy the GAs are only transfered to another player, and the ingame coins still remain in game. on the otherhand, oracles give coins... the inflation will go out of hand cause NO ONE STUPID ENOUGH is going to use 100k on jolly jones!

i remember when i was a newbie at 30s, and there is this jolly jone event. i already know guardian angels cost less than 100k, and can buy 2-3 using 100k.

so, using oracles, 8.1k per oracle... 100s if not 1000s are added into the game per hour. this is going to be added into the already inflated ingame money.

who came up with 400million figure anyway? more like 4 billion... take the total number of players in one server, average out the money they hold, and add 20% (gold price went up 20%). as a lvl 20, i can get 200k in 3hrs of grinding. so... 400million couldnt have done much.

i'm gonna take a break off this game... gold price is forseeable at 200k, if not more, in the near future... b:bye
