How long does server main last?

Just getting an idea as I just started yesterday.

Also, is there an efficient way for me to get a pet?

    That is about the maintenance. As for the pet a Venomancer will get a quest at lvl 7 I believe through which they learn to tame monsters into pets. All other classes can have all-class pets but the eggs for those pets have to be caught by a veno. At least at this time there is a new expansion coming soon though. More info to that in this link.
