I just tamed a treeline wolfkin, and it not as rounded and smooth looking as the wild version. Its face is squished to a point so it looks reallys strange. My old darkbreed wolf looked normal, why is this one have a lower quality of look?

It's been pointed out, discussed, and reported as a bug many times.

I think the reason it's done that way is to avoid running out of video memory. The regular mobs are limited to one location. If you try to lead them too far, they will give up chasing you and run back. So that means it's impossible for your video card to have to load more than a certain number of different mob models into memory at once.

With pets though, a couple dozen venos in the same location with different pets could force your video card to load all those different models at once. The regular models are pretty big and this could cause you to exceed your video card's memory. So for pets they use a simplified model.

simple solution would be use HQ versions for your own pet and low quality versions for other peopls venos. its true, pet models do tend to look fairly ****.

You can try and get a Undine pet or a hercules. Wolves and all those other simple mobs are just fill content.
