That spell is really odd. It should be the weakest except against magic resist, because over half its damage is physical. Yet in pratice it does a surprisingly large amount of damage. I get 12k from it and could get more out of it, but I'm poor and cannot afford more upgrades for my spells.0

You ARE aware it's 2208.9 physical + 2208.9 fire, right? As only the child that I was, I tread with giants.

Indeed, it is 110% wep damage plus 2208.9 X 2.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]0 -
o ok thx for clearing that up i thought the physical and magical dng was included in that 2208.9 plus damge so it technically doubles thats cool
but 110% is way less than the 275% from the drag or mountain sieze0 -
BT is the stronger of ultis until you can get lvl 6-7 +dragon or mountain seize , after that is still the strongest vs robes.0

At an initial glance, yes, Blade Tempest sounds weak:Level 1: (110% weapon + 2208.9) x 2 = 220% weapon + 4417.8
Level 10: (200% weapon + 3860.4) x 2 = 400% weapon + 7720.8
That doesn't sound so useful on its own, since both the other spells start at 275% weapon multiplier and top out at 500%, and even the weaker of the two (Mountain's Seize) starts at over 4800 fixed damage and ends at over 8400.
However, almost all spells involve base magical damage, and Blade Tempest is no exception. The spell description (what I found online, I don't have it yet):Focus all of one's vigor to create countless flames that fly towards the enemy, causing the target and all enemies 8.4 meters around the target to suffer both physical and Fire damage equal to base magic damage plus 110% of weapon damage plus 2208.9.
If I'm reading the spell description correctly, then I think this is what they're really saying:Level 1: (BMD + 110% weapon + 2208.9) x 2 = BMD x2 + 220% weapon + 4417.8
Level 10: (BMD + 200% weapon + 3860.4) x 2 = BMD x2 + 400% weapon + 7720.8
(BMD = base magic damage)
It seems to me this would explain why Blade Tempest has such a reputation for doing so much damage -- it's counting the base magic damage twice.
According to a character simulator I used, a level 60 pure-wizard (34 strength, rest magic) wearing only two magic rings and a TT60 weapon has 2647 to 3066 magic attack. The TT60 weapon itself is 511 to 624. So, level 1 versions of each of the spells:BT: (BMD + 110% weapon + 2208.9) x 2 = 10836 to 11922
BIDS: BMD + 275% weapon + 5522.4 = 9575 to 10304
MS: BMD + 275% weapon + 4807.6 = 8860 to 9590
Note that for Black Ice, only 27% to 31% of the attack power comes from base magic damage. (27% if weapon damage is max and BMD is min, 31% for vice versa.) However, with Blade Tempest, base magic damage contributes 48% to 53%.
I'm not sure how the contribution scales at higher levels. In general, if all other factors remain the same, base magic damage is going to contribute more and more, since it starts to further outshine the fixed damage, and already dwarfs the weapon damage in the case of BT. But, of course, the spells get larger weapon multipliers and more fixed damage, up until they're maxed.
Anyway, I could be reading this all wrong, but I don't think so. When I realised that base magic damage might be contributing twice to BT, everything suddenly made sense.
Edit: Fixed the percents; they were BMD as a percentage of (weapon + static), not BMD as a percentage of (BMD + weapon + static).0 -

But at lvl 65 with each attack at lvl 1 and being almost a full int wizzy I only do about 6-7.5K with MS, 7-8.2K with BID, and 7.5-9K with BT. I'm using an Ancient Arbor +4 with a Common Sapphire Shard(+16 mag atk). I also have the rank 2 ring and a magic atk ring for my lvl. Now when I do crit hits with those atks I do close to and above your calculations. So you're pretty close there. But really good job on the details.
Well, duh. Enemies have this thing called "magic defense", it means you don't do full dmg to them.
Try the skill out on some level one horses in town, see what kind of numbers you get then.0 -
poor horses...
poly has a point its obvious that enemies have defense so your numbers gonna be lower but they could be right unless the GM's make a "No Defense Day" where enemies have no defense. Wizzes would own...and make the enemies give you 10k xp lolz use a AoE and look at the xp!Sins are Scissors. Psychics are Rocks.
Archers, Venos, Barbs, Wizards, BMs, Mystics, Seekers are Paper.
...and Clerics are Mushrooms.
Paper beats Rock. Scissors beats Paper. Scissors also happens to beat Rock...until Rock gets 50k+ soulforce at which point Rock becomes an unstoppable killing machine that beats Paper... and would beat Scissors but it can't find Scissors, because Scissors are invisible.
So Scissors beat Paper and avoids Rock, and that is called BALANCE. -cheze0 -

Ha, we should have a no defence day...as a way to repay wizzies for the fail class we're forced to be.0
