Dual Weap vs. Pole Weap question

Hello, Im very new to this game, its my first toon. I played WoW for 4yrs so im pretty familiar with the overall MMO workings.

One thing I am stuck on is when you have a pole weap with an attack rate of .91, does it do more dps than a set of dual weapons with an attack rate of .83? Assuming the weapons are both of equal level and caliber that is.

Im just not sure if the dual weapons actually hit twice or not.

I tried browsing and searching the forums and couldn't find anything, so my apologies if this is a common post.

    Dual weapons are supposed to be the "best" for 1 versus 1 which makes sence In a way but from my observations Polearm tends to destroy Sword/Axe BMs

    Barbs always use Dual axes.

    duel hammers/axes = good balanced dmg + slow attack rate.
    pole axe/hammer = less balanced dmg + faster attack rate.

    if u want to use skills use duel weps, if u want to attack with normal attacks then use pole weps.. anyway i would recommend to use duel weps cuz barberian skills have a very short channeling, u can use 2 skills in 1.5 sec so use the duel hammers (better dmg).

    In terms of damage, dual weapons are supposed to be the best. (one of the reasons is already above my post) One of the reasons most poeple use dual axes the most, is also because most TT weapons are dual axes.
    There are 2 reasons that can make you choose a poleweapon though:
    - faster attackrate => more chi. This can let you use spark eruption more often (great for low budget grinding), same for other chi skills. This can be usefull for fleshrealm.
    - faster attackrate => more hits => more critical hits. This is really subjective though.

    I think i will just keep a pole weap as well as some dual weaps on me at all times. Didnt have the money to blow when I wrote the thread, but now i have plenty muahahah!

    Just gotta wait for the darn server to go back up, lol!

    Thanks again I will give them both a try and see what works best. Will just mainly be leveling until about 20 or so.

    its basically so that the higher base damage you have, the more dmg your skills will do. if you hit alot with normal attacks poleaxe is good too, otherwise use dual axes.

    but as said above, almost all good high lvl weapons are dual axe
