why do so many people seem to think veno is the money making class?

i'm broke. all the time. what am i doing wrong?
"farm tt" : solo costs 50k to get in, or 100k for 2-X. 2 bosses. and those drops dont sell for astronomically high. squad you hardly get anything.
"all class pets": 2/3 of the selling price is the coin cost of making them. an elysium costs 10 eggs (=time taming them) + 200k. selling price is 300k. and ive been trying to sell one for over a week.
"grinding": everyone can do it. i dont get any more drops than any other class would.
these are the top 3 things people throw at me when i ask how veno is supposed to be rich. tried all 3 methods, none of them have made me rich. are there other things im missing?

well I'm guessing that grinding is the main thing... I know that venos have skills to regen mana/health etc which saves on a hiero or pots. They also have their own tank, so they have almost no repairs, and rarely worry about dying. They do seem like a better grinding class, but when I began this game, I thought that they were meant for just solo etc. Every class has their advantages.Youtube Channel: youtube.com/user/D2VeT/videos?flow=grid&view=0

I would say its becouse venos dont need too many pots really AND you rarely need to fix armor.0

Because we are the money making class lol. I'm only level 72 and when I do Justice quests solo I come back with NO less than 100k in my pocket each and every time. Most times I come back with 200k or more. Mind you I keep grinding for the entire hour even when the actual quest monsters are done, since I can't hand it in anyway. I don't even catshop my drops, I NPC everything.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]

I think the money in TT is made by soloing Squad mode bosses. no ultimate substance and better drops. u might need a Herc. idk (nevermind i think 4 people is minimum for squad mode so idk. maybe u guys just kill quicker?)0

You need a herc or a pet with matching rare skills (not the reflect skill). Many factions will make a 4 man squad and then allow the veno to continue on his/her own to solo it using the herc. I stopped bothering with TT outside a squad, I don't have herc (and will never have herc because I like the aesthetics of my pets and herc is fugly), and the solo mode is 90% of the time not worth the time it takes. I could make another 100-200k with no expenses in the time it takes to do one solo TT, and not have to bother with ultimate substances.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]

I've had the same gold hp charm since level 51, and it's still got over 300k on it. Granted I don't participate in TW, as that would drain the charm to death I'm sure, or at least speed it along. I don't use an mp charm because...I haven't needed one. My mp recovers very quickly and when it gets to 50% I natures grace it and by the time I get there again it's cooldown period is over. For this same reason I also don't carry any pots except what I find as drops, and I often npc those too lol. Only thing I ever have to repair is my weapon, and that runs me about 30k when I do it, which is a bit but I don't have to do it very often. I can't figure out why you're having this problem, are you a werefox build?[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]

Doing Tt or Baby Pets arent the things that gives you money ( TT only permits you to equip yourself (and your friends) and sell a little .. only if done in squad mod.. solo - find 3 friends of have 4 accounts - on 4 differents comps)
grinding... 1 hr gives me between 160 and 200 K (just sell those DQ things you wont use, and nobody buys) and never have more than 10k repairs
once in a while you will get a decent drop you can catshop or AH
Help your friends or your faction in dungeons.
im not the richest veno .. but the baker telsl me i have between 500k and 3 M depending of the day of the week
(HP charm, mana pots, light build) I do tank or take aggro a lotI look at all the trollers, and Pvpers.. and know they wouldnt have lasted 30sec on Camelot.

Actually we do make more money then most other classes. we can basically grind non-stop without using any pot, we do not need to kitting since our pet is tanking, we do not need high repair cost because we do not get hits at lot. that's where our money comes from. I personally can get somewhere between 200k to 300k a hour if I do AoE and using HP/MP pots. Of course you will need a Herc if you want to do AoE. But we are still better then most other classes even without a CS pet, I used make 100K to 200K a hour with my magmite.0 -

Sounds like you just fail at playing a veno.0 -
I can only speak for myself here of course.
Potions? I NPC them all.
Charms? Don't need them.
Repair costs? So small I don't notice
Rare/All class pets? Waste of time
TT runs? I've gotten a few mil from that but its typically not worth the time
Coin profit daily? Quite high. If I want something it doesn't take me too long to have the coins to pay for it.Main characters

Sounds like you don't know the NG/ST/MB trick. You grind until your mana is low. Use Nature's Grace to bring it up, then Soul Transformation to swap it with your hp (which should be full since you rarely take damage), then Metabolic Boost to bring up your hp. At later levels these skills are enough to completely replenish an empty mp bar. (An alternative is to use NG when your mp hits about half. When it drops to half again but NG hasn't recycled, use ST/MB.)
Not using pots and having almost no armor repair fees means my veno definitely makes more money than my barb. But the weapon repair fees are actually higher since the veno spells are weaker meaning you have to cast more often to get the same amount of exp (well, you could let your pet do all the damage, but that takes forever). I haven't found the veno to make that much more money than my cleric.
The reputation of the veno as a money-maker comes from early in the game when you could tame and sell the eggs to NPCs for thousands of coin. I guess the idea was since you had to lower the mob's hp below half for a decent chance for tame to succeed, you were grinding but foregoing the exp and loot. So NPCing the eggs for coin was a way of compensating for that. Rather than lower the sell prices, they just changed it so all eggs only sell for 1 coin now.0 -

The first part was pretty correct from my point of view. Second part was at least 50% correct...but I highly doubt a cleric would ever have any chance of making money at the rate a veno does. As for the last part..I've never heard of that, but I wasn't around at the very beginning, so I don't really know if it's true or not.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]

actually most of what he is saying is correct
in MY-EN venos are able to sell pet eggs to NPC for a huge amount
unlike here in PWI w/c its only for 1 coin[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]0 -
This is not MY-EN, good way to bring up an invalid point.0

the last part is real .. but you can only not of it if you played on the Chinese or MY version of the game
the most eggs were sold to npc was .. the equivalent of 120 - 150 coins.. if memory servesI look at all the trollers, and Pvpers.. and know they wouldnt have lasted 30sec on Camelot.

ok first of all the hp and mp regen skills have a long cooldown time. i burn hp/mp faster than i can cast those. second of all i use charms, so soul transfusion used for either hp or mp will result in a charm tick which is unnecessary. also i have double the mp than i do hp, so using a full bar of hp to regen some mp is.. it doesnt work that way. i use the hp and mp regen skills as often as i can, but i end up using pots during the cooldown times.
and i get hit a lot. a lot. but i havent been killed by anything other than a boss or the mobs in TT in like.. 40 lvls. so if that = fail at playing a veno.. whatever.
my armor and or weapon usually gets to breaking point once daily. thats an expensive repair. and i tried grinding on the mobs for justice for the full hour after i passed the 70 needed, i was at diabolic tigaeros (spelling) and came out with 70k in dq and equip and pot drops.
and no, im not a light/heavy build, i'm full int.0 -
Wow, 70k in items after an hour. You're really doing something wrong.0

they do have a very long cooldown period, but the regular rate at which your mp recovers should be enough to be able to use it again before your mp reaches half. what spells are you using? if you're casting lucky scarab as often as it comes up, then you're burning a lot of extra mana unnecessarily.
I run an hp charm, and I've only ticked it once using soul transfusion, and it was on purpose because I was in a tight spot.
as for double the hp and mp thing, it runs on % not the actual amount. so if your mp was empty and hp was full, it would fully recover your mp by using soul transfusion, only your hp would be dead in that scenario, and would tick the charm.
I currently have 2678 hp and 5891 mp. Without buffs or apoth items I recover mp somewhere above 30 per second....(not exactly sure probably higher now) and that's enough to keep it above half until nature grace comes back up, at least most of the time.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]

as a veno you should not be getting hit that much.. whether you are dieing or not is different but still.. you need to use a pet with an aggro skills and let it keep aggro.. thats the entire point of your pet.. unless you are like a melee heavy veno build in which i guess it would just be to tank magic mobs or deal damage (which you said you are arcane.. so this isn't the case)0
-
try to use your pets correctly <.< (if you are using pets at all) if you use them correctly you won't get any hits from mobs...and what kind of skills you are using that your mana burns out so quickly O.o I can spam heal my pet for a long time and I don't have to use pots only spells (no charms either) and if your pets can't hold aggro get better ones(only reason why you can have such huge repair bills is that you get too many hits O.o what's weird if pets should tank) or then you are just too lazy to use your pets in a right way and in a right place (my lvl 35 veno makes more money than my lvl 76 wiz)0
-
I have to ask why are you getting hit? Our pets are there for a reason. If you are pulling aggro then you have a few good ways to deal with it:
1: Wait longer before nuking, pretty straightforward.
2: Get a better tanking pet. For everyday grinding you will not find a better pet than a golem. People complain all the time how they hate them and don't want to be just another veno with one, but in the end they are still the best at what they do.
Function > form
3: Upgrade your pets skills, particularly Bash.
2 and 3 actually kind of go together, but can be applied separately as well. Maxing Bash and Tough and teaching Threaten to my golem was one of the better decisions I've made so far.
If pulling aggro isn't the issue, then just pay attention. There is no reason for a Veno to ever get hit unless a mob spawns right on top of you. Even then you can move out of aggro range more often than not.
Our cost to play is substantially lower than any other class. I haven't paid for pots in 50 or more levels, repairs run maybe 3k at the most for 2 hours of grinding, during which time I make at least 350k in drops, usually a good bit more.
If you are running out of mana quickly then you are most likely not using the most efficient spells. Venomous Scarab is dirt cheap and kills things fast. Unless the mob is Increased Life or Magic Resistance I never cast more than 3 spells. Generally it is Ironwood, Venom, Venom, dead. Lucky Scarab is garbage for regular use, sure it's great damage but it also costs up to 4x the mana as Venom. Blazing is also garbage, mobs don't live long enough.
Hopefully mine and other posts have caused you to reevaluate your methods and consider a better way of doing things. I promise we are an easier class to play than what you seem to be experiencing.0 -
