noob archer need help :)

Hello everyone
I started playing PWI a couple days ago, my avatar is an archer. I spent some time before that reading the forum to find out which class should I pick. The main reason why I chose archer class is that they are damage dealers, but with the damage penalty and the LAG, I find myself doing half dmg most of the time, only the 2 or 3 first shots inflict full damage.
I know that my range and DPS will get better, but that’s not gonna solve the problem because the mobs I’ll have to kill will have much more HP and/or speed .
Is it normal for an archer to inflict halved damage most of the time? And what should I do if a mob enters my melee range?
I got one more little question, how many arrows can I carry?

    You'll eventually get knockback and stun skills which keeps your enemy away from you (so long as you dont miss). IF it does enter melee, just use winged pledge or lightening strike as those skills dont suffer melee penalty.

    yeah i agree completely with what Zerikita said...frost arrow and knockback arrow are amazingly good when you are in a situation as stated above!
