Confusion and some curiosity

I'm new to Perfect World of course, coming from a long 3+ years of addiction to World of Warcraft. In the search for a change of scenery I have tried out a LOT of the other newer MMORPGs (you name it, I've probably tried it). I finally gave up because honestly WoW has spoiled me. I have super high expectations now as far as lag, graphics, and storyline go. I stumbled upon PW and so far I really like the graphics, the gameplay, the latency/lag is better than ALOT of the MMOs out right now that cost you money every month.
After playing up to level 8 over the course of a few days I'm still not seeing a decent storyline. The creative writing is fluff... no offense. That is just my opinion. Does the story ever pick up? Is there any interesting lore to be found in the game world? It's easy for an MMORPG to be a grind-fest and I was really hoping PW wouldn't turn out to be simply that but so far that's the direction it appears to be heading in. I get that you need lots of money and good gear... but.. what's the motivation? Where's the immersible, imaginative story compelling me to do this?
If a long time player of PW would be so kind as to tell me straight up "Nope it's just a big grind to waste time" so I can start looking for another game I'd be grateful. Or, if someone can tell me when the "RPG" aspects pickup...
Thanks!

74 levels and I haven't seen much in the way of a real storyline yet. There are a few hints here and there but so far nothing has gone further than just that.0

yea pretty much there isnt really much story yea sure you read a lil bit and a few hits.... but honeslty this game doesnt really have a story line imo..... all the quest are kill x amount of number of monsters... not much main char plot or anything etc.. as for story in mmorpg last game i played that was free and had really god story line to it was guild wars..0

I have not seen "one storyline". I think they do a pretty good job of creating a setting where you encounter various people's lives against a backdrop of war. But if you want a good story, I think you will have to make up your own.
I do wish I could go back and read quest text I had recently closed out, because several times I have completed a step in one of my quests and was all "Wait! I wanted to understand your story. Oh no!!"0 -
i played wow also for more than 2 years, but didnt do anything with a story or rpg aspect.
In the end its just grind quest, earn money, try to earn rep, and get the best gear, and max lvl.
Some things are better here some things arent.
Graphics and character design are imba.
Dungeons and raid settings are very very poor. You never go inisde a building, or tower, instances are barren and simple
Real money makes the game much more enyoable, but seduced by the glitter i find myself spending more money allready in 2 months than 1 year of wow.
So free to play is true but not so fun and much harder.
In the end its all about having the highest lvl and highest gear, i guess same competetive element as in all these games, you just want to be the best and strongest. If you have lots of time, and practically no real life you will reach that fast.
Funny as it is, wow has lost its appeal to me, boring endgame, doing Black Temple over and over each week buh, although the learing curve was real nice. This game sure is much more relaxing for my nerves eyes arms and overal wellbeing, no stress.. no rush.. good strong solo character veno..nice choices in how you wanna look as a girl ;-) Very sexy legs...
Maybe they should add some XXX factor, where you can undress totally naked, that should attract more people for sure lol
And add on top of embrace/hugging some stronger emoting and actions b:laugh"There's a big difference knowing the Path, and Walking the Path"0 -

yes venos are hot but then i dont want to see a panda having XXX with a tiger.... or a naked panda running around with his thing flapping around0 -
TBH the story line in PWI is written or made by the players than by the game itself (due to game lacking a proper one either on porpose or not.). Meeting, squading, competing, helping, trading, etc with other players is how you make the story.
If you have no friends in the game, you will likely have a bad time (thinking more on how boring is grinding and what is the plot of this game?). When you interact with other players you do not thing about any of those issues. Your concern are: level, skills, weapons, armor, Quests, bosses, mats, guild, friends, pets, mounts, clothing.ect.
The lot of grinding gets you coins quickly. Which you need to buy items you need. I actually like long grinding quest so I can get the resourses I need to continue improving my items.0
