why would someone buy a panther (10g) instead of one of the cheap flying pets(5g) and add +3ms with upgrades (60s)

10g= 10ms
5.6g= 5.2+1+3= 9.2ms

is the 0.8 ms worth 4.4g?

    You can also use the panther for things like the races where you can't fly.

    And it's more than 60 silver to upgrade a 5g flyer to 3m/s.

    Panther is available form the cash shop for 10 golds. People also sale them at the auction house for around 1,000,000 coins.

    Riiighto. You're completely wrong, in just about every possible way. Quite literally. No idea which part of your thingy to correct first.

    First off, your base flying speed has nothing to do with your movement speed. It's not 5.2. Far as I know, it's more like 4.5.

    Secondly, you apparently decided to throw an extra +1 into your equation just for the hell of it. Not sure where you're getting that from, but if I had to hazard a guess, I would say you're rather confused as to how upgrading works. When you have +1 aerogear, and you upgrade it to +3.. you have +3 aerogear. You don't add +3 on top of +1.

    Thirdly, you have no idea about the pricing of wind widgets. It takes more than 60 silver to upgrade it all the way.. it needs a total of 720 silver.. or for those of you playing the home game, 7 gold and 20 silver.

    Sooo.. what you mean to say is:
    10 gold = 10ms (on a mount)
    12.2 gold = 4.5 + 3 = 7.5
    Everyone here is ridiculously oversensitive.

    Ok, lets try and get all your math right,

    Land:
    10gold=8m/s mount
    20gold=9m/s mount
    30gold=9m/s mount
    15 gold=spurs to upgrade 9m/s mount to 10m/s
    level those mounts to level 11 +1m/s to base speed.

    Aerogear:
    flyspeed=base class speed ex cleric 4.8, archer 5.1
    5gold=+1m/s
    10gold=+1.5m/s
    15gold=+1.5m/s
    20gold=+2.0m/s
    30gold=+2.5m/s

    Aerogear upgrages:
    1.0->1.5=20 widgets=1.8gold
    1.5->2.0=60 widgets=5.4gold
    2.0->2.5=80 widgets=7.2gold
    2.5->3.0=80 widgets=7.2gold
    TOTAL: 1.0->3.0=240 widgets=21.6 gold

    put simply, the slowest land mount is almost twice as fast as the fastest (upgraded) flying mount.

    If I may assume that the movement speed of the land mount is only dependent on the mount and not the character class wouldn't the max difference actually be, at most, ~40% difference between the two, and not "almost" twice as fast?

    assumption correct, it's the mount speed & has nothing to do with character movement speed

    40%? idk, never did the math, i say almost twice as fast because the slowest land mount is 8/sec, which quickly levels up to 9/sec, where the fastest aerogear is 5/sec. currently

    If you fly just remember you arent gonna use accellerate the whole time (too expensive to get chi stones) and if your using a mount just remember you cant use it in the water. I have both a mount and wings and i gotta say i use wings more even though its slower. I maxed my wings btw 3/5. When i want to get somewhere i just dont want the hassle of moving around stuff (lakes, towns, giant rocks, steep mountains) so i fly at a certain altitude. If your asking what my personal opinion is then you get more bang for your buck from aerocraft since pk/pvp air fights, flying over stuff np, afk when using the auto pilot and get there at a decent speed. Mounts are faster but you cant fight/defend urself on a mount, cant go over water, cant climb a steep mountain.

    Also, land mounts look infinantly cooler than flying mounts.
    Idk about you guys but I would rather show up on a giant snake that on a manta or a sword (or wings for winged elves).
    Plus, all land mounts are compatible with every race and class, as opposed to the flying mounts that are race/class-based.
