I know, I would of let the veno have it for the 350k what he/she offered, but nope, someone saw the buy message and thought ahhh i'll say 700k and see if that person is stupid enough to pay it and give me a quick profit0

heres a crazy idea traders, if anyones got spare pets that they dont ever use why not go to a newbie low level area and let someone have one, go on it will make you feel good, I personally love playing mmo's with pets, guaranteed you would make someone happy.
I did it earlier, bought a crystalline magmite and dropped my previous pet on the ground (as an egg) in gate of antiquity, some newbie picked it up.
I bet this idea is shocking to 99% of PW players0 -

Yeah, players are too greedy for that. If they can't get rich from it they don't care about it. Other players are either making them money, or are in the way of anyone that can make them money. No one else matters but them, they don't care how much they ruin the games economy to do it they want to get rich in the game.Main characters

Can you say the same 'OMGL'
And no I dont do it in archosaur, i'm not stupid enough to sell stuff at npc value in an area where every trader under the sun would clear out my shop for a profit, I actually go to newbie low level areas and sell it all there, helping people out.
Traders who go around collecting all sorts of things just to make their little virtual bank that bit bigger just make me laugh.
My shop is in Archosaur, West District which means if they are buying from me they aren't a newbie anymore, and they know what's what. Besides, when I want something right away I'm going to be paying the same or more for the item in question. It's a double-edged sword that cuts both ways, and worrying about it is a waste of time, really.
I don't have the time to run around buying anyone out, and if I am then chances are I actually need it.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]0 -
I agree Zoe, and people like 'OMGL' earlier will try to tell me that its inflation, it's "the way things are", either pay it or dont the choice is yours.
And I say no, I don't like that choice, nor do I believe that players should be able to control the market and make everyone have that choice.
NPC value, thats what it is worth.
This isn't Entropia Universe, that game has a real cash economy, making profit is understandable and drives everyone.
This is just a game.0 -

It's actually not entirely possible to ruin the game's economy unless you flood it with coin which would cause a serious case of inflation, and you can always do what I do when I need something: ignore the cat shops and farm it.
Trust me, if no one bought anything from cat shops, their stock piles would continue to grow, and they'd be forced to drop their prices eventually.
Besides, cat-shops are best utilized to get that last 1 or 2 of an item you need, not all of them.Windlight - Heavens Tear wrote: »I agree Zoe, and people like 'OMGL' earlier will try to tell me that its inflation, it's "the way things are", either pay it or dont the choice is yours.

Actually, after the glitch with that recent patch, prices did go up on some items because of the sudden inflation. Yes, when prices go up, it's inflation regardless of who is controlling the prices. If players were suddenly capped on how much to sell something for to another player, they would vendor everything or they would find a way to circumvent the system.
BTW, some items like the jades for making weapons, armor etc have a cap of sorts if the player wants to sell it for more than they can vendor it for.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]0 -
This discussion has been great but its late and i'm going to sleep so wont be responding to any more posts.
After all this discussion my final thing I would change about PW is this, I would take control of the market away from the players and make it fair on everyone.
Everything would sell at npc value and be restricted from being priced any higher, i'm going now, have fun flaming me0 -
Farm it, don't buy it. Why do you think I got a hercules? I get my own darn TT mats. I normally prefer to stay out of the games econ as much as I can.Main characters

A lot of people want it the easy way. Just sayin'
If anyone wishes to demonize me and hate me for, you know, selling things with-in reason, feel free since everyone needs someone to dislike intensely, and people might stop asking me for help, not that anyone ever does since, you know, I'd never ever in a million years, like, actually do anything for anyone who, like, actually needed help, and no one would ever, like, actually speak to someone with a name like mine because, it's like, so silly and obviously the creation of someone with an i.q. of a rock...no that's insulting the rock.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]0 -

Put in a henchmen system that gives npc party members for those who prefer playing solo. They still play solo but have npc backup, It has been done in other games.
Place restrictions on game items (not item shop items) so that they can only cost certain amounts and people cant sell them at extortionate amounts.
That way a venomancer for example can get hay to unlock pet slots without realising 6000 coins is needed just for 1 (at least) Hay is an in-game item, shouldn't be extortionated.
Herbs and other materials are also extortionated, often seen at quest points, done by people who think they can rip off people who want to get quests done.
Same again with Dragon Quest items.
The only things that should be allowed to cost tons of coins in my opinion is those things available in the item shop. All in-game items should be kept reasonable for all players.
Theres my 2 cents worth, your turn.
but in game mobs do drop hay, i got my slot w/out having to pay any coin. the easiest way to bring down prices of an overpriced item is not to restrict the players, but rather just make the item drop more often.
i don't see a problem w/ herbs and dq tho. herbs r everywhere...seriously...in any given hill its scattered all over the place. regarding dq's...they seriously have a ridic drop rate too. if u can't collect the dq items, u're being ripped off for being lazy. i've made millions just selling dq to npc's (can't wait for catshops cuz i use my comp to do work) and i still give dq items away to faction members sometimes
ur idea reminds me of the mercs in diablo II. however i will say that it would make venos less unique. if my archer can have a tank merc, then there is no reason wutsoever to be a veno. venos will lose their fast farming/low upkeep advantage and probably would have to be rebalanced. my archer already kills things pretty fast, if i have a tank merc to gather mobs for my aoe's, then its just over.
also, it discourages teaming w/ other players b/c it would be better than sharing exp/items in a squad in everyway0 -

Oh no, please not the henchment system! b:surprised I don't wanna have soulless dummies follow me anywhere and I pay for their gear food and who knows for what else.Place restrictions on game items (not item shop items) so that they can only cost certain amounts and people cant sell them at extortionate amounts.
Oh no, please not the trade restrictions b:surprised I beg you, i need to save up money for gold charm and i don't wanna harvest 10000 (30 cents a piece) herbs to gather the abount of money I'd normally have for 100...Oh nooo, please have mercy! That way a venomancer for example can get hay to unlock pet slots without realising 6000 coins is needed just for 1 (at least) Hay is an in-game item, shouldn't be extortionated.

Oh no! Please not that! ! swear I never sell another hay again I'll shove them all down the throat of my mount just pleeease don't touch the trade system. b:sadSame again with Dragon Quest items.

Oh no! b:surprised please not the DQ items. I thought i was doing a favor getting the needest DQ items from tough mobs risking my life and paying huge repair bills. Now pleease don't make us give up the DQ sale...i beg you. onegai, onegai!0 -

Carry on if it makes you happy The dragon quest is a waste of time anyway, its much quicker to just grind and get EXP that way rather than go all over the map doing a quest that takes ages and spending a ton of coins on loads of different items in the process, anyone who has played a while will know that the same amount of time spent grinding instead would gain a fair amount of exp and various drops to sell.
If everyone realized this small yet completely true fact where would that leave you DQ sellers?0 -

Thanks for the link about real life marketing, supply and demand, etc
As i've already pointed out this is a game not real life, the items in the game are virtual not real, the general rules of marketing dont apply to virtual items that you only own as long as you play a game, and even then you dont own anything.
The only exception to this is cash shop items that cost real money, fair enough, everyone can charge what they like on those as they cost real money. The standard in-game items are part of a free2play game and cost no one any real money so cant be considered a market economy. in my opinion.
That link doesn't change my opinion no matter how many times I should read it.0 -
1. I would rip out the TW system and replace it by a PvP system that actually makes sense and doesn't reward guilds for being big. Like a tournament system that would pitch groups of same level against other teams of roughly the same level. Oh, and something that would go on 24/7 and not only during fixed times on the weekend. Fixed schedules suck.
2. Make truly repeatable high level raids (unlike FBs which require a person with tabs).
3. Replace the mindless Villa quest with something that's actually fun. Villa quest must be one of the dumbest things ever brought to a MMO, but the XP are too good to pass on.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]0 -
In an MMO, there is an infinite supply, therefore supply and demand have NO bearing on anything.Main characters

people who help towards driving these virtual in-game supply and demand markets constantly ruin the games and no one ever does anything about it, certainly not developers, and why is that. It's because they make real money out of it, people see an in game item that they want costs millions of coins so they deposit real money to buy cash shop items so they can sell them in order to buy the in game item they wanted.
The developers allow this to happen, the players continue it happening, and there you have yet another free2play game monopolized into a real life type market economy.0 -
I would Make it a lil less chinese based and more Traditional fantasy with more Races. Also i would have a custom face paint OptionFacebook.com/foxi187

pfft i dont see any problem with that. Not EVERYONE is going to want to spend A whole lot of coins to buy an item from the store, they should have the option to buy it off the street with coins too.
and as for selling them for coins for the in game money? i can slightly see how it isnt right, but at the same time it enables the people who cant spend real money to get ahold of boutique items without paying money which i support. I dont know how people say "Oh it isnt that hard to get coins"
It IS hard when you have to pay repair fees and skill upgrades and such.
And for paying for boutique items....
Hmmm $30 for a mount or $30 for a new game..Facebook.com/foxi187

dragon orbs in cs are really greedy though0 -
My arguement isn't about cash shop items, selling those in-game is fair enough as they cost real money and its up to the individual what they do with their real money.
My arguement is about standard non-cash shop in game items. Mats/Herbs/DQ/weps/armor/the works.
Someone explain to me why these things are treated like a real life supply and demand profiteering market, whilst keeping in mind that its all virtual and ownership of any of these things only exists as long as you play the game and abide by the terms of service.0 -

My bad for taking being singled out as representing an entire group of people personally.
In the future, if you don't want someone taking something personally, don't single them out and treat them as if you had something against them.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]0 -
