Sending items in letters clerification plz help!!!

I just sent 3 letters from the little postboxes. I sent them from one account of mine to another account and when i got on the other account there were no letters =( Im guess mabey u have 2 w8 a certin amount of time or u have to pick it up from the same post box...? a little light on this would help
