what would u like to do with your pet?
phoenix: best in pvp and it's quite good in pve too
hercule: best tanker, maybe get one and farm hh mats than buy a phoenix too,

    No.

Hercules has insane defense and can tank fbs and TTs with no trouble. Phoenix can't hope to do that even if it could enter dungeons. However the bird has a very high attack power.

it would tank mag dmg dealer bosses with ease

better than herc, no, but the closest to it is a golem

i really wanted the pheonix because of the damage but with the not being able to use in TT and FB im not so sure i have a strong golem at the mo and can solo FB 19 and 29 nd im only lvl 51 so if i get that stronger it might be useful in TT,

so is a herc really much more effective than a golem or can it do the job nearly as well?

At the risk of overcrowding my already infested grinding spots, with a Hercules you can aoe grind solo.
You will get far more xp than the phoenix + the paltry 25% bonus for air mobs.

On the contrary I get more exp with phoenix. At level 84, aoe grinding on Justice Envoy ground mobs I gained about 3.6% an hour with the justice envoy quest(on xp scroll). On Bloodbirds with phoenix 1 by 1, I gained 4.6% an hour without a justice envoy quest.

If you can find a nice air mob, phoenix will grind you faster generally. Though I would deffinatly get hercules first because he can farm money like no other and easily help you get the phoenix.

Also interesting fact, solo aoe grinding with herc isnt too beneficial(if at all), sure it seems cool and since they all generally die around the same time it -looks- like you kill more, but a lot of time is wasted gathering the mobs and healing, and waiting while you hit all the mobs so herc doesnt lose aggro. I found killing 1 by 1 was actually more effective since you dont have to worry about your aoes taking aggro and healing every 5 seconds.

I did solo aoe with my herc, then got tired of using up hp charms due to always getting agro so I stopped.

Get a herc, farm yourself a phoenix in a week.
Personally, I'll probably go for the pheonix first, since I'm a PvP ****... but the most sensible thing is to get a herc and just farm the nix with that.

Pretty much yeah. But it helps if you have a goal in mind. Say grinding for a particular item you know sells well, and for a high price. Say (HAY) for instance. With all these Phoenix's running around, people need to feed the darn things.

    Just one idea of many.
