full screen problem

i think ive gotten a problem with my vedeo card as none of my full screen games work, but any games that aren full screen do work. my PW used to be not on full screen but it somehow changed today and any time i try to open it my computer restarts, any idea how to make it back into not full screen mode without being in the game?
