Whacky graphic issues for item and skill icons

Well, I've updated my graphics driver and tinkered with the in-game settings and finally got all the 3D bits running smoothly. The only thing I can't lick is the icons for items and skills are all manner of scrambled along with chat smilies. It doesn't really stop me from playing, but it is annoying. Any thoughts?
