I think theres something wrong with my archer because I noticed that i dont hit anywhere near what I should my base damage is 777 - 1068 yet I almost never hit higher then 600 damage on creatures that are even 10 - 13 lvls lower then me and i even have the skill to increase range weapon damage by 12%
is this normal?or is my archer glitched?

Are you in the air attacking a creature on the ground? I seem to recall that this halves all damage, even if the creature on the ground can hit you (with a ranged attack or if you are close to the ground). I think it applies to any difference in environments (air-ground, ground-water, air-water).0

i was on the ground i know that if you fly and attack a ground mob it cuts your power by about half, and when i was fighting they were all at max distance when i started attacking0

Your damage is pretty normal for an archer of your level, as you level up and start to level your skills you will also notice substantial increases in damage, Archers don't really start coming into their own until after lvl 600 -

so its normal not to be able to hit the base damage that it says on the character stats screen?0 -
hit the chickens and horses in town and see ur dmg there. Those are the only mobs with no defense, so you get a accurate result.
Remember monsters (even 10 lvl lower) have defence and it absorbs some part of your damage. Also you didint tell us what bow/arrows you are using. If your weapon is a lower lvl than the one you should be using at your level you suffer more damage reduction.0 -

I did like you said went into a town and tried killing the lvl1 horses and chickens i hit a little higher then 620 on average using a lvl38 bullfiber pellet** which is a slingshot.I tried using both lvl1 iron ore shot and lvl4 lead shot and I was surprised to see I hit less with the lead shot o.O maybe my luck is just really bad but I was hitting about 50 or so less with the best ammo I could use..
P.S. I made the slingshot myself dunno if that has anything to do with this
P.P.S. i tested my slingshot on roaming pyrogolths near broken bridge village they are lvl 8 i killed 40 to get a average damage and got 874.95 damage per shot which is alot better then killing the lvl1 creatures in towns..Also tried on venomous ghouls lvl21 outside archo average damage was 759.20 -
if u match elements (hit them where it hurs like hit a fire mob iwth water, or metal with earth etc.) it gives bonus dmg0

If im not mistaken slingshots do less damage than bows but they shoot faster. have you tried a bow and arrow?0

physical attack indicated in the character box takes equipment into account. its got nothing to do with attacking the wrong element, using a suck weapon, or being in the air. what is says in there should already includes the archer's slingshot. the archer is wondering why he/she hits less than that damage rating. don't believe me? take the weapon off, equip something else, and see what happens. I'm hitting a lot less than what it says on there as well.0

Everything becomes easier by an incredible degree when you reach 60 and get your TT60 weapon (or equivalent legendary weapon, if you are so lucky). At 59, I simply couldn't handle Foxwing Supremes. I'd get hit two or three times while spamming skills. At 60, with the Swiftwind Crossbow I made for myself, it's just Frost Arrow + Knockback Arrow + auto attack until dead. I rarely even get hit by them.
To put it in another perspective, all the mobs in Tusk Town are very easy to kill now. b:laugh0 -
It's perfectly normal. Your damage goes through the enemy's defense, although I'm not sure of the formula for how it's calculated. I hit around that range too.0

I would like to ask what kind of build u have on your archer atm. Are u a pure build or hybrid? Do you use a lot of + dex equipment? Even the smaller things like that can make a difference. Not a uber big one but there is definatly a difference. Feel free to PM me in game and we can chit chat about it. I've also got a few higher lvl archer connections so even if I'm not sure about a question they may be able to help^^
And don't worry once you're level 60 and you get the crossbow mobs become MUCH easier!!0 -

no, that's the opposite. slings do more dmg but are terribly slow.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]

Wrong. Sling does more base damage and is the fastest of the three main weapons archers use. Sling is fastest regular hit, highest base damage, lowest crit damage. Bow is middle speed, middle base damage, middle crit damage. Crossbow slowest speed, lowest base damage, highest crit damage. Speed is irrelavent when using skills. Speed only counts for regular damage.0 -
What sillyfoo said is correct.
Slingshots are regarded as the best for PVE due to their increased attack rate and more constant damage. Crossbows are regarded as the best for PVP due to their high critical hits, which can make or break a duel.0
