The poll question: If there was such a tournament, would you take place in it?
Okay, so I was thinking about hosting a tournament in Heaven's Tear, my "home" server.
Requisite level: 30 (able to fly).
The tournament will be split in sections by levels (to make things fair, though naturally level 38 will have somewhat of an advantage over level 30):
Level:30-38; Entrance Fee: $10,000
Level:39-48; Entrance Fee: $20,000
Level:49-58; Entrance Fee: $30,000
Level:59-68; Entrance Fee: $40,000
Level:69-78; Entrance Fee: $50,000
Level:79-88; Entrance Fee: $60,000
Level:89-98; Entrance Fee: $70,000
There will be winner's in each section.
Flying:
The ability to fly is important since the rounds will take place on the Heaven's Tear Platform (place where our ancestors settled things).
Prizes:
The prizes will be money, all the money received from entrance fees will be split into the prize money. All the money received from each section will go to the winner's (maybe a little to pay for my world chats) of the section. The 1st winner gets 75% of the section money and the runner-up gets 25%.
Rounds and Fights:
Each round the person will duel someone three times, each person has their own buffs only, none from other players or each other. The person to will two of the three duels will proceed onto the next round and closer to winning.
Set-up:
The fighters will be matched according to their levels and class. Though in the end things might be mixed up to determine the final winner. Sets will most likely be: Blademaster-Barbarian, Mage-Cleric, and Archer-Veno. This might make things somewhat.
Skills and Chi:
There is no limit to which skills you are allowed to use, if you have it, you can use it. Before each round begins, the fighters will embrace someone to get full chi bars and be able to use their best moves.
Time and Date:
There is no set time to when this is going to take place, I just wanted to see if people would be interested in something like this and then take it to the next stage. The rounds will be over multiple days of course, to increase the tension and excitement. Probably over the weekends to ensure that people can actually get on in time.
Why not PK:
I was considering a pk fest, but thought that people might complain too much about lost items and stuff, and therefore decided on friendly duels instead.
Pots and Charms and Apothecary herbs:
If you have it, you can use it. No Holds Barred. Anything Goes!

That is all I can think about. If you guys can think of something to add or subtract from the tournament, please do tell me. And also what you think about the idea.

it's a nice idea (allthough I am on Sanc...) but for instance Mages SUCK in 1v1 duels... And what about the use of charms/pots?

Maybe I'll create a temporary character and host one in there too!
Damn, complications! I guess to truly make it fair the use of charms and pots should not be allowed.

No offense to you personally, but any player-made event where entrants must give money to someone in order to participate is too easy to be suspected as a scam. What security does anyone have that you (or whoever is holding the money) won't just 'run off' with it all? Get a GM involved and have them hold the money, then maybe. Though I doubt they would, it's worth a shot.

The tournament will be split in sections by levels (to make things fair, though naturally level 39 will have somewhat of an advantage over level 30):
    Level:30-39; Entrance Fee: $10,000
    Level:40-49; Entrance Fee: $20,000
    Level:50-59; Entrance Fee: $30,000
    Level:60-69; Entrance Fee: $40,000
    Level:70-79; Entrance Fee: $50,000
    Level:80-89; Entrance Fee: $60,000
    Level:90-99; Entrance Fee: $70,000

    Your level brackets are wrong.

It should be divided starting with cultivation quests since those give access to more skills.

For exemple, a level 59 will have access to skills a level 58 will not (and will have one additionnal spark too).

Same thing at 89, where you get your sage/demons skills specialisations.

Thanks Brit for the sig b:laugh

Decent idea...but yeah, divide by culti levels, and cleric vs mage? C'mon, all cleric would have to do is Plume shot wiz, and they'd die quickly.

Updated, charms cannot be used in duels, so no worries there, but pots are allowed and so are the herbs u can make at the apothecary. Although you cannot use anything before the duel starts.

Well for the most part, classes will be played against their own classes, but in the end it might get a little mixed up.

Lol, no offense taken. I thought this would be the most prominent argument against the idea. I understand completely. I wouldn't mind letting you hold the money if it could work, but like you can't trust me, I can't trust you. So basically, a shout-out to any GM that would like to help this ol' boy with the tournament. It would be really appreciated.

The reason I can't do it in Lost City is the same reason I can't do it in Sanctuary, because I don't have a character there. Although I wouldn't mind making a temporary character in either server to start something like these there.

This is a good idea that might require improvement but still is good. I actually suggested it on the "suggestion forum" about having regular tournaments, which should be easy to setup.

    ALRIGHT!!!! A post that's not a criticism, b:victory.
Also, the polls will end at 11:59PM(PST) Sunday, February 15 2009. If there are more Yes's than No's, the tournaments a go, if not then, the idea's a bust, and maybe some other time.
